Our Collective Duty to Zimbabwe
20-06-2008 10:49
Experiences in Guyana, in Kenya and in Zimbabwe have taught us that it is a mistake to adopt western standards of victory as our own, write Horace Campbell and Eusi Kwayana. Victory for us must mean reconciliation of divided populations. Reconciliation will fail utterly if it is imposed; or allows free rein to corruption, militarism or if it ignores the choices of the people in valid elections. We have responsibility as progressives and Pan-Africanists to Zimbabwe.Tracey and Ericka Belong to Glasgow!

Despite the fact that Israel killed 58 Palestinian children since the start of 2008 (Palestinian Centre for Human Rights) EU foreign ministers on Wednesday agreed to strengthen ties with Israel. The EU policy of rewarding Israel, the aggressor, has caused the Irish electorate to loose confidence in the EU's competence to espouse a foreign policy which represents the views of most Irish people, especially in regard to the Israel/Palestine conflict.

EU lifts sanctions on Cuba - "Beans & Phones"
20-06-2008 00:44

As the BBC European editor Mark Marsdell put it very pithily on his blog "The foreign ministers' dinner finished about half an hour ago. They've decided to lift sanctions against Cuba". Meanwhile the Spanish language press has produced pages and pages of this and that spinning the decision any which way just in case tomorrow's first editions don't have a decent terror or escaped human story.Anti Arms Protestors Granted Legal Aid After High Court Threat
