Stage available to use for free in Hackney

The building
A bunch of people started to occupy a building on 195 Mare st, in Hackney, London E8 3QE

The back bit of the building contains an amazing stage, where we already had the famous pantomime of "the three little squatter pigs" last month :)

We thought this part of the building would get demolished soon but its still there.

Demonstration Against Noah's Ark Zoo Farm

The following was revealed in an undercover investigation of Noah's Ark Zoo Farm in 2009:
• Inadequate vet care
• Killing of excess animals over the winter months
• Display of young tiger cub when he was very unwell, shortly before his death
• Illegal disposal of a tiger carcus
• Borrowing animals from the Great British Circus, one of the few circuses still to use animals
• Inadequate access to tranquiliser, in the event that a large cat escapes
The trade body, BIAZA has withdrawn the zoo's membership after the zoo brought the organsiation into disrepute by withholding information about the origin of their tigers, and despite this, they took in some new lion cubs in February 2010.

Activists sent details of child & threatening letters from government/MI5/DWP

An activist with a child was sent strange letters from the Department of Work & Pensions detailing his child benefit & details of his parents pension. He was then telephoned with the warning "We know everything about you & if we want we can get your parents pension money interfered with at any time". The activist said the person phoning was a woman & that she had " an Australian or New Zealand accent. What's scary is that he did not any time given the DWP his mobile phone number.

The Tortoise Protection Group have conned a number of Animal Rights Activists into helping, raising and donating money. Their website promotes the breeding of captive tortoises as pets. There are also a number of dodgy articles about very expensive stolen tortoises. It is alarming genuine AR activists that other "AR" activists are supporting this group, believed to be criminals promoting a con.
