Solidarity with Egypt, **** vodafone

03-02-2011 07:22

Vodafone has shown its true colours, supporting the regime of mubarak and aiding the repression and attacks on the egyption people protesting in the streets.
Demonstration against this involvement and in solidarity with those out on the streets of egypt, 2pm this friday outside vodafone in the centre! (central one by BHS/Barclays).

As people took to the streets fighting against their president Mubarak and his government, they found themselves cut off from sms and internet access. One company largely responsible for this, and critised by amnesty international for thier role is Vodafone.

If this wasn't a clear enough display of their bias, there have been reports of Vodafone sending out mass texts in support of Mubarak around Egypt. There have been texts cir...culated discrediting the protests and telling people to "confront the criminals".
On the same day, hundreds of people were injured and at least four killed during attacks by pro-Mubarak forces on those demonstrating against his tyranny.
Whilst this was initially reproted as a 'counter protest' it is coming to light that many (though not all) involved were plains clothes police officers, hired thugs or people bussed in by the state.

If you feel as outraged by Vodafone's disgusting behaviour as we do, join us outside Vodafone to tell them what we think of it, and to stand in solidarity with all Egyptian protesters.

Up to two million Egyptians attended yesterday's monster demonstration
There is no doubt that people facing tumbling living standards around the world have been inspired by the demonstrators' sudden loss of fear. Images such as the young girl leading chants atop her father's shoulders, and the former cop beating his old uniform with a shoe, will certainly last long in my memory.
