Day of Solidarity with the Palestinians and the Greek Anarchists and Anti-Authoritarians

21-01-2009 19:52

An International Day of Solidarity is being called for January 23, 2009, for the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the Greek Anarchists and other anti-authoritarian activists in Greece. There are many overlaps between these two struggles, and those similarities are explored below. The date and the atrocities exposed in this article are highly ironic, given that the Jewish people of Israeli have experienced a genocide of their own: the Holocaust.

Brum Gaza Demo: The Lightning Conductors

21-01-2009 15:43

Last Saturday around 5,000 people marched in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza in Birmingham City centre. After hours of boring speeches by opportunist politicians, demonstrator's freedom of movement and right to protest was restricted by police and stewards to just Victoria Square. Stewards colluded with police to ensure demonstrators could only leave the demonstration in ones or twos even though a Section 60 hadn't been enforced on the protest. Some people did manage to continue protesting outside the pen on New Street and Starbucks was redecorated with some eggs.
