Torture, Paramilitarism, Occupation and Genocide: Torture as Policy under Bush
25-10-2007 19:22
On October 5, George Bush confronted a public uproar and defended his administration claiming "This government does not torture people." Again he lied. Once secret US Department of Justice (DOJ) legal opinions confirm the Bush administration condones torture by endorsing "the harshest interrogation techniques ever used by the Central Intelligence Agency." It also condones paramilitary thuggery, oppressive occupation, and genocide. This unholy combination is the ugly face of an imperial nation run by war criminals. That's the state of things today.Southern California is not New Orleans

It is impossible not to notice the difference between the federal government and the Bush administrations response to the Southern California wildfires and their response to Katrina. They would have us believe that the explanation is simple; they have learned from their mistakes. But we know better: don't we?Cuba responds to Bush

* With a lot of rhetoric and propaganda the Chavez administration has advanced different examples of co-management which, they claim, demonstrate their desire to transform Venezuela’s relations of production. A compañero from Europe visited us recently and got to know two of the most celebrated cases: Alcasa and Invepal. Here is the report he prepared for El Libertario # 51 about the actual working conditions in the country’s most “important” co-managed businesses.SHAC AR Prisoner Moved to new jail

24-10-2007 21:39
It's been a bad week for Israel's ruling Extremists, with reports of widespread brutality arising from Zionism's dehumanization of the Palestinians as a people. No wonder the IMC network and others like it have been under attack all week. When you dehumanize a group of people in order to consider them the enemy and take away everything they have (including their lives), it gives you ever more license to treat these people with monstrous, unthinking brutality.
The Israeli people really shouldn't be quite so shocked: they are simply reaping what they have sown, now manifesting as the behavior of the IDF, from the very inception of the Israeli state.

So, clearly, the Anglo-American policy in the region is still focused on efforts of destabilization of the countries, and thus, provide both an excuse and a feasible situation to maintain control over the region. Afghanistan and Iraq, often seen in the public view as two wars in the US-led ‘War on Terror’ which hopes to ‘rid the world of terrorism’, yet, in reality, these two major theatre wars are simply two geopolitical pivots in the broader strategy of Middle East and Eurasian imperial conquest.Palestine Today 102407
