5 Activists Arrested for Taking Over FORTH ENERGY H.Q.
23-08-2010 15:05
This is the unspoken face of climate change. Logging concessions in Alaska, West Papua and the Congo are being offered to provide wood chip and pellets for Europe to burn as 'green energy'. Climate Camp activists targeted Forth Energy because of their plans to build 4 biomass power stations. Along with deforestation, biodiversity loss & accelerated climate change, millions of indigenous peole will be evicted. Local residents in Scotland will pay a high price from health-damaging emissions from burning wood.Tourism during the No Border camp in Brussels

Meeting tonight - Free Public Transport
23-08-2010 12:22
Bristol meeting for new transport campaignBristol Campaign For Free Public Transport - inaugural meeting tonight, Monday 23rd August, at Redcatch Community Centre, Redcatch Road, Knowle BS4 2EP (main buses from the centre – 51 and 54 to Broadwalk Shopping Centre). The meeting starts at 7.00pm and all are welcome.
Public Transport will be a key issue for workers in the coming period, as cutbacks by employers and government hit living standards. The FreeBus campaign had a very successful launch meeting a few weeks ago, and Friends Of Suburban Bristol Railways continues to campaign for better rail services. Now it is hoped that by the autumn a Bristol branch of the national Campaign For Free Public Transport will be up and running, adding its distinctive contribution to the debate. The inaugural meeting is due to take place tonight, Monday 23rd August, at Redcatch Community Centre, Redcatch Road, Knowle BS4 2EP (main buses from the centre – 51 and 54 to Broadwalk Shopping Centre). The meeting starts at 7.00pm and all are welcome.
Meantime a website explaining what the campaign stands for has been set up here – http://bristolcffpt.wordpress.com/

Strictly speaking the Guardian hack is putting the boot into the American media circus, but many a true word is spoken in jest....
"Clearly these particular Americans have either gone insane or been seriously misled. Where are they getting their information?
"Sixty per cent said they learned it from the media. Which means it's time for the media to give up.
"Seriously, broadcasters, journalists: just give up now. Because either you're making things worse, or no one's paying attention anyway.
"May as well knock back a few Jagermeisters, unplug the autocue, and just sit there dumbly repeating whichever reality-warping meme the far right wants to go viral this week."
