Lancaster had a carnival of culture and the authorities were out in full force to record all the movements of the people - even the council had people out with little black books taking notes and conspiring with the police - at least so it seems, because the council is threatening the carnival (which is a loose voluntary association of people with no titles and no names) with legal procedings if certain pictures are not removed from the web....

Last year MI5 leaked news to the London Evening Standard re security fears around the NIMR / MRC plans to build a high level virus containment facility and animal testing lab on a Camden council estate. Paul Keilthy of The Camden New Journal ran the story. Locals, councillors and animal rights campaigners vow to fight side by side. Councillor Roger Robinson wrote an open letter to Gordon Brown in the newspaper.

As the UK cost of the Iraq war doubles, the amount that the war has cost the US taxpayer is recalculated by the global economist who was last years "Reith" lecturer, but is at present amongst the experts lending their support to Obama . . . . Where did the spin come from is a SERIOUS question as odd things happen across the world that seem to provoke wars or wreck peace.
