Israeli Bomb Flights in Suffolk

30-07-2006 12:10

It has emerged that two flights due to touch down at Prestwick on Saturday were diverted to the RAF Mildenhall military base in Suffolk. A third Atlas Air flight was believed to have landed at Prestwick. There has been no official confirmation of what was on board the planes. A spokesman for the US air force at RAF Mildenhall said two aircraft had been diverted from Prestwick. He said the Atlas cargo flights arrived late on Saturday night and would depart on Sunday. He could not comment on what was on board the planes, but said they were there to refuel and allow the crew to rest. A spokesman for Prestwick said the diversions meant that no such flights were due to land at the airport on Sunday. -BBC

THE CRIME OF LEBANON AND PALESTINE - ARE IRAN AND SYRIA NEXT? - PART II

30-07-2006 01:34

"The fate of the corrupted neoliberal model may be what's now at stake. That model is already unraveling in Latin America where Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is proving his alternate Bolivarian participatory democracy is overwhelmingly popular and working. It's based on a government serving the people by providing essential social services, especially to the poor and desperate ones most in need of it. Chavez's success has made him a symbol of hope and a hero in the region and beyond, it's allowed his form of governance to spread to Bolivia, and there's every reason to imagine and hope it will continue spreading unstoppably because people in other Latin countries are beginning to fight for it. It's all greatly alarmed the ruling authority in Washington that views Chavez as the threat it most fears, even above Iran - a powerful good example that will spread unless the US acts forcibly to stop it, which clearly is its plan."

Atrocities mount as Israel intensifies bombardment of Lebanon

29-07-2006 18:25

Openly backed and armed by the United States, Israel is carrying out mounting atrocities in Lebanon in an attempt to overcome unexpectedly fierce resistance from the Hezbollah movement. With its 17-day aerial bombardment having failed to wipe out Hezbollah, or weaken its support among the population, Israel has intensified its onslaught.
Internationally banned munitions designed to cause massive civilian casualties—including phosphorous, air-sucking bombs and cluster bombs—are being used to terrorise the Lebanese people, force a mass exodus of residents from south Lebanon and pulverise Hezbollah forces in preparation for a larger ground invasion.
In one of the latest war crimes, an Australian-organised convoy seeking to rescue 50 civilians from the village of Ramesh was fired upon by Israeli forces. Those wounded included a German TV cameraman and his driver, who were reporting from the rear of the convoy.
