G8 Bike ride reaches Gleneagles: Photos

13-07-2005 15:37

Welcome to the G8
Some how, amongst much police confusion, where road blocks were not about stopping traffic, but 'discouraging it', we managed to get our vehicles up a narrow lane to what looked like the media entrance of Gleneagles hotel. Hidden behind a police pen and crowd of media was the G8 bike ride people.

London bombs community discussion - your help needed

13-07-2005 13:44

The rampART social centre is planning on hosting some kind of discussion event for people to talk about their concerns, fears, proposals etc in relation to the London bomb attacks.

It is particually hoped that it would enable a dialogue between different elements of the community in order to avoid or mitigate against ill-placed retribution and revenege attacks and to combat attempts to fuel hate and distrust by the some elements of society and the media.

It is also hoped that together we can identify and be aware of moves by the state to capitalise on the fear being generated in the wake of the attacks to clamp down even further on civil libities and introduce new draconian legislation and ID cards etc.

Media Alert: The mysterious case of the vanishing World Tribunal on Iraq

13-07-2005 10:56

World Tribunal on Iraq
A blanket of almost total media silence covers Bush and Blair’s crimes in Iraq, and their support for relentless corporate exploitation around the globe. These war criminals continue to be presented as world-straddling father figures who could "solve" poverty in Africa and so become the beloved figureheads of a "great generation".
Virtually the entire British media ignored the deliberations of the World Tribunal on Iraq in Istanbul from June 24-27.

STOP British Airways Flight BA302 at 6:20am Thursday 14 July

13-07-2005 09:48

re-posted from NCADC News Service

Charles Pouaha must stay!

Urgent: Please help stop the removal of Charles Beaudelaire Pouaha On British Airways Flight BA302 at 6:20am Thursday 14 July "I escaped Cameroon and came to England on the 26th of November 2002, but instead of finding refuge here I have been drowning in problems; since I came to this country and presented myself to immigration as an asylum-seeker, I have suffered the evils that I was trying to forget yet again. I have been held in detention since the 29th August 2003. Because I know my situation is very dangerous in Cameroon, and I know how failed asylum seekers who are deported to Cameroon are treated, I resisted deportation." Charles Pouaha

This will be the sixth attempt to remove Charles.
Charles has been fighting for two and half years for the right to asylum in Britain. Charles survived detention & torture in Cameroon only to have his case for asylum refused at every turn, despite all the evidence he has provided of what happened to him and how much he is at risk if he is returned.

There Are Flowers At The Station

13-07-2005 09:32

This short poem is dedicated to those who died or were injured and those who lost or had loved ones injured in the London bombings. The poem suggests that we try to grieve for our loved ones, the injured and our city without resorting to the terrible witchhunts of the past to relieve our anger. Peace

Interview on Terror Drills still on BBC 5 drive til Thursday

13-07-2005 08:50

Conventionally blinkered minds have been trying to rationalize away the eerie fact of the terror drills at the same time and places as the real explosions. They even cast doubt on the authenticity of the audio clip on Alex Jones website.

London Bombing

13-07-2005 08:15

"At half past nine this morning we were actually running an exercise for a company of over a thousand people in London based on simultaneous bombs going off precisely at the railway stations where it happened this morning, so I still have the hairs on the back of my neck standing up right now."
-- Former Scotland Yard Official Peter Power on BBC, 7/7/05

A Letter to the British People from a daughter of Iraq

13-07-2005 00:49

I would like to ask you, the free British people, to allow me to inquire: in whose name was our country blockaded for 12 years? In whose name were our cities bombed using internationally prohibited weapons? In whose name did the British army kill Iraqis and torture them? Was that in your name? Or in the name of religion? Or humanity? Or freedom? Or democracy?
