March 15th Demonstrate Against Peter Tierney

22-02-2010 21:46

Merseyside BNP “super-activist” Peter Tierney faces trial on Monday March 15th. He is charged with assaulting an anti-fascist on St George’s Day, just one of many incidents in which members of Merseyside BNP have used intimidation and threats of violence against those who oppose them. Tierney is perhaps the most active member of Merseyside BNP and the most violent, and we want him to know that we won’t let that fact die quietly.

GATES OF DELUSION: Media Distortions And +Real+ Climate Scandals

22-02-2010 19:49

Since November last year, the public has been bombarded with the story of stolen emails from the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, revealing a supposed "scandal" of scientific malpractice, stupidly and lazily named "climategate". Further media frenzy erupted over an erroneous Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change statement that 80 per cent of Himalayan glacier area would very likely be gone by 2035. Other climate-related storms in a teacup have been appearing in the corporate media almost on a daily basis. This nonsense is distracting attention from a mountain of evidence that human-induced climate change is accelerating and poses a deadly threat to civilisation.

Mossad’s Murderous Reach: The Larger Political Issues

22-02-2010 18:18

Mossad death squads operate directly under the Israeli Prime Minister (who personally approved the recent murder). The vast majority of Israelis proudly support these assassinations, especially when the killers escape detection and capture. The unfettered operation of foreign state-sponsored death squads, carrying out extra-judicial assassinations with impunity, is a serious threat to every critic, writer, political leader and civic activist who dares to criticize Israel.

Never Mind the B*****s?

22-02-2010 18:00

I have been further arrested on two separate occasions for public expression of "bollocks" and "blair". Both cases were dropped on the date of trial under somewhat convenient circumstances, the CPS offering no evidence. The first case was dropped the week the Sex Pistols released their 3oth anniversay edition of the album "Never Mind the Bollocks - Here's the Sex Pistols". The second case was to be attended by Lady mary Warnock, picking up the torch of common sense from Professor Kingsley and QC John Mortimer who valiantly defended our right to use that Saxon Age old word of bollocks.

EDL sent packing by militant anti-fascism!

22-02-2010 11:45

The racist thugs of the "Scottish" Defence League were prevented from having any demonstration at all on Saturday, because of the successful counter demonstration of the Edinburgh Anti-Fascist Alliance. Hundreds of us turned out on the day in a vibrant and exciting protest, to show the racist thugs that their bigotry and divisive hatred is not welcome in Edinburgh.

The Animal Protection Party have opened another shop, which they say have "gone from strenght to strength" in spite of the massive police clampdown on fundraising stalls for AR groups like SHAC. After the police raids on SHAC they claimed that SHAC had raised £1 million through street stalls & closed down the SHAC [which they said were ALF] stalls. The APP shops however stay open.

U.S., French, & UK Imperialist Hands off Niger!

22-02-2010 03:49

Photo: AP 10,000 Supporters of military coup demonstrate in Niamey, 20 Feb 2010

In Niger human rights organizations, trade unions, and opposition parties (including the Niger Party for Democracy and Socialism) are all supporting the coup. 10,000 people rallied in support on February 20th.

Meanwhile the US, France, UK, UN, and African Union all have been quick to condemn the coup.

Tandja did the bidding of U.S. imperialism. Meanwhile, according to the UN Development Program’s 2006 Human Development Index, Niger is the poorest country in the world. Sixty percent of the population lives on less than a dollar a day, life expectancy is only to 45-years old, and adult illiteracy is 71%.

Photos of the Yarl's Wood protest, 21st Feb

21-02-2010 21:11

arriving
Activists from No Borders London, Campaign Against Immigration Controls and Feminist Fightback today held a protest at Yarl's Wood immigration prison in solidarity with women detainees who have been on hunger strike since 5th February. The protesters managed to get past the security barriers and walk around the barbed-wire fence with banners, shouting solidarity slogans via loudspeakers and making noise with pots and whistles for well over an hour. They were repeatedly cheered by detainees inside, who waved their hands through half-open windows and displayed hand-written placards expressing their suffering.
