US military's Haiti "relief" ops: A Rehearsal For Troop Deployment in L. America

31-01-2010 21:57

USSOUTHCOM area of responsibility
The American commandeering of the airport at Port au Prince and de facto seizure of sovereignty over Haiti looked exactly like an invasion and occupation – except that Haiti had already been invaded in 2004 by the U.S., which then turned over occupational duties to its servants in the United Nations. To speak of a U.S. “invasion” of Haiti is getting a little bit redundant. The Americans never left, and they and their flunkies walk all over Haiti like an old rug.

UK police plan military-style spy drones in the sky to watch us

31-01-2010 19:13

The Guardian is reporting that police in the UK are planning to buy a batch of unmanned spy drones, like those used by the military in Afghanistan, for permanent covert surveillance of the public. The unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are being manufactured by the arms manufacturer BAE System for Kent police and others. They should be ready for the 2012 Olympics. These aren't the rotor-blade robots used already at demonstrations - they can land and take off on their own, stay up for 15 hours, and go up to 20,000 feet, so they can't been seen on the ground. The full article can be seen here:

Corruption in Ghana: Who is to Blame?

31-01-2010 14:10

The racist and anti-Afrikan Western media likes to publish to its readers that some how the Afrikan is innately corrupt and it is this trait in the Afrikan that is responsible for the chronic under development and impoverishment of the contnient.

This assertion is nothing more than a vile racial slur which my article will prove. What Westerners are not aware is that White governments and multi-national companies are at the root of this corruption enticing naive Afrikans to get what they want.

Importance of including truth emergency in the progressive media reform movement

30-01-2010 21:22

Almost 1,000 scientific professionals in the fields of architecture, engineering, and physics have now concluded that the official explanation for the collapse of the World Trade Center (WTC) buildings is implausible according to laws of physics.

This conclusion should be a part of our political discourse given how much of the policy in the past eight years has been based on assumptions about 9/11.

In a free society, this type of inquiry would be a matter of civic principle, not national ridicule, which it what it has largely been when it has not been totally ignored by corporate media.

30-01-2010 17:44

Around 30 York residents assembled at the city's Parliament Street Fountain, on the busy "Residents Weekend", to call for Haiti's debt to be cancelled and to denounce the imperialism and distaster-capitalism that have marred aid efforts so far, and threaten Haiti with centuries more suffering. Over a hundred passers by signed petitions, and the protest received local media coverage, raising the need for long-term politicaland systemic chance alongside the excellent short-term aid donations that have marked a public outpouring of concern.
