The Greek uprising is truly going European!

It is early in the morning of Tuesday, March 9th. Bemused audiences tuned in to an Athens news station to listen to an evidently uncomfortable police spokesperson. How could he not be? He must explain a rather embarrassing incident: days earlier, on March 5th, the police had tear-gassed Manolis Glezos in the face for trying to prevent a youth’s brutal arrest [photo at  http://athens.indymedia.org/front.php3?lang=el&article_id=1139832]. Glezos is 88 years old today; it was almost 70 years ago, on May 30 1941, in Nazi-occupied Athens that he and Apostolos Santas climbed up the Acropolis and tore down the Swastika – an action for which he was arrested and tortured the following year.

Anatomy of Conspiracy Theory By Zahir Ebrahim

11-03-2010 03:25

In fact, some of the best cloaking devices for clandestine covert-operations and hidden agendas have been invented by the most brilliant minds – here is one exposition for instance from Ezra Pound: “invent two lies and have the public keep arguing which one of them might be true”. Another is by Leo Strauss – the erudite teacher of the majority of the neo-cons – called “Noble Lies”. A third by the White House, often referred to as “plausible deniability”. Lastly, we also have the “limited hangout” and “modified limited hangout” conspiracies to mislead the public in case “plausible deniability” for governmental wrong-doing doesn't work. But wait, we also have “beneficial cognitive diversity” through “cognitive infiltration” - previously known as COINTELPRO and undercover operations - thanks to the academic regurgitation of Harvard Law Professor Cass Sunstein, now President Obama's Chief Information Officer.

NHS Database coming to your GP

10-03-2010 22:10

The Department of Health is trying to roll out the Summary Care Record to millions of patients before the next election. Doctors’ leaders are alarmed. Patients are being misinformed, and opt-out is being made difficult. In the pilot areas, seven out of ten patients are unaware that an SCR was created for them. The patient information packs don’t contain an opt-out form; you’re supposed to phone the call centre for one.

Another Day in Calais

10-03-2010 14:11

On Friday a group of No Borders Activists went to Calais. We were told that Africa House had been subject to raids by the CRS every night, usually twice for the last week. This is not unusual. Migrants are arrested to have their fingerprints taken as proof that they have been in France, a so- called ‘safe country’ and then released.
