An aerial shot of one of the largest police training facilities in the world hunkered down in the luscious green pastures of Gravesend, Kent, where England’s formidable Metropolitan Police force tackles hypothetical anarchy in a lot that looks like a amusement park more so than a staging ground for urban unrest and abatement. The 9,250 square meter site (38-hectare) was opened back in 2003 by the private company Equion, according to the BBC “through the government's Private Finance Initiative, using both public and private money.”

An activist was arrested today for criminal damage. It is alleged that she wrote something in the earth as she and her friends sat outside Sequani on a Sunday chatting. We are told that one person held a BUAV banner there was no shouting.

Suspected Arson Attacks at HLS Animal Breeder

Multiple arson attacks were carried out at Charles River Laboratories, in France, who supply animals to laboratories including the notorious Huntingdon Life Sciences. As of yet no group has claimed responsibility but militant animal rights groups are suspected. An office building was torched and three trucks, two hundred metres away, were completely destroyed with incendiary devices.

After a prestigious conference last week (see  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/birmingham/2008/06/401910.html), the International Organisation against Migrants, aka the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), has opened a new office in Birmingham (details below). The intergovernmental agency is apparently growing bigger and more 'efficient' as the government is stepping up its deportation plans. In addition to its UK head office in London, IOM has offices Bristol, Glasgow and Liverpool, and has recently open a new office in Leeds. It is further planning to open two new sub-offices, one is known to be in Peterborough.

Let's tell them they are not welcome here, in Birmingham, or anywhere else!

European Union policies are creating an artificial market in biofuels, which is leading to large-scale destructive investment across the world.
Now, the EU is debating plans to expand biofuels by increasing the mandatory biofuel target to 10% by 2020, and two committees of the European Parliament will be voting on those proposals during July.
Two recent studies show that virtually all agrofuels result in higher greenhouse gas emissions than the fossil fuels they replace.
