United States Marines have arrested Anne Auguste (So Anne), a prominent Haitian singer and humanitarian activist. A sizeable contingent of marines attacked So Anne’s home in Port-Au-Prince, where she was recuperating from surgery. They detained eleven friends and family, who were handcuffed and taken away, including two young children (ages five and twelve years old). The military ransacked the house. The U.S. Marines apparently still hold So Anne incommunicado.

Irish SWP call Mayday organisers "Thatcher's Children"

The Irish SWP have been caught in an embarressing slip. Within 36 hours of the biggest and most militant anti-capitalist march that the country has seen in decades, the SWP produced a leaflet which they handed out on the RTS in Dublin on Monday May 3rd. In this leaflet they denounced the libertarian organisers of the march as "Thatcher's children" for not preventing people from advancing and trying to push through police lines.

These demands, for self-government, are what those fighting the UK/US led occupation of their country say will bring them to the negotiating table. They are asking the Arab League to step in. Not the UN! Here in the UK we should listen to their demands and press our representatives, MP's etc., accordingly.
