04-06-2012 12:35

This video is well worth an hour of your time: Yes, there are many documentaries out there about over-consumption, consumerism, etc, but this one stands out from the rest, in that it makes this excellent observation on the world economy: Our economy is based on over-consumption and consumerism, even planned obsolescence of products, and cannot function if the people were to overcome these "bad habits".

Some sanity on day of parasite worship

03-06-2012 12:55

With 350 people gathered by 12 O'clock more are expected to swell the ranks of the republican protest. Private security stopping protesters from accessing #jubileeprotest site and the organisers are suggesting people assemble on Tooley St, opposite the Shipwrights Arms. Some are not been able to get their banners out, while others are being prevented from joining the main crowd of republicans.

The rain is on our side as Republicans from across Britain unite for the biggest anti-monarchy protest in modern times. A ray of sanity are meeting at City Hall, as the mass of people wander like zombies towards the river thames in the drizzle, not sure what there is to see or why exactly they are waving those flags. It has been hard to remember a more empty day of national hysteria and good to see at least some are prepared to show their contempt.. Republicans have a powerful and positive message about democratic values and a more imaginative and inspiring form of politics.

WH Tours - complicit as usual in mass deportations
No lock-ons, tripods or superglue...just bodies. A spontaneous sit-down protest in front of an airport-bound deportation coach helped gain time for a last ditch legal challenge, which cancelled the enforced removal of about 40 ‘failed’ Tamil asylum-seekers.

Israel: Racist Country !

03-06-2012 09:54

ISRAEL - RACIST COUNTRY
Israel is the most naive and racist country in the West ...... The migrants are less of a danger than what people think. The real danger is the way they are being treated. ..... Israel is both the most racist and most naive country in the West. Racist, because in no other country can politicians make remarks about migrants as they do here and still remain in office another day; naive, because only now has Israel discovered the problem that has been facing the “first world” for years. Only in Israel can a parliamentarian from the ruling party describe the migrants as a “cancer,” and, far worse, it is only in Israel that she could do so knowing that her contemptible racism would merely gain her support.

A Poem for the Diamond Jubilee

02-06-2012 19:55

Elizabeth is Head of the Church, of the State and of the Army,
Contemplation of her powers is enough to drive you barmy.

As Commander in Chief of the Forces she can start and end a war,
But God forbid the latter – the top brass and she want more.

Brighton anti fascist actions prove a valuable lesson

02-06-2012 19:35

Kettled EDL escorted to station
This afternoon's actions by Brightoners against the English Defence League proved a valuable lesson in the value of protest. Without the concerted efforts of the hundreds who turned out, the members of EDL would tonight be downing pints of cheap lager in the city's bars. Instead they have been thrown out of town - hopefully for good.

Mubarak' Life Sentence

The sentence of life imprisonment for Mubark and the finding of many of the senior culprits of his regime, make clear that a revolution has not taken place in Egypt.
