Protesters against compulsory “work-for-your-benefits” schemes succeeded in shutting down A4e’s Edinburgh office today Wednesday 16th June. A4e cancelled all appointments and stuck up a notice declaring their Earl Grey Street office closed for the whole day, as demonstrators gathered outside.

Come to a rally at College Green (outside the Council House) from 4.30pm on Tuesday 22nd JuneOn June 22nd there will be a budget giving more details of the government's plan for cutting the deficit. We can expect privatisation and savage cuts in jobs and services. These will have an immediate impact not only on public sector workers but on all those who depend on the services they provide. Pensions and welfare benefits will also come under attack. If there are sacrifices to be made, then let the wealthy pay, the ones who recklessly gambled and profited from the free market. This is a call for positive alternatives like investment in services, the living wage and an opportunity to rally against these damaging cuts.

Ride for PalestineDetails of an online petition against arming Israel and a vintage mmotorbike ride Merseyside-London to deliver it.
I'm a member of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign. I've been disturbed by the activities of the Israeli government for years. But just recently the attacks on Lebanon, Gaza and the massacre on the boat delivering aid have really made my blood boil.
So, I'm organising a petition against arming Israel and a vintage motorbike ride Southport-London to deliver it.
At the moment the petition has c. 750 signatures and five riders have already agreed to take part. All the details, link to the petition etc are at:

I wondered if I could ask you to support the petition, perhaps by signing it and circulating the link above. A link on a web site would be magnificent! At the moment the Liberal Democrat Friends of Palestine, the Friends of Lebanon, the Campaign Against the Arms Trade, the Liverpool Friends of Palestine and the Leeds Palestine Solidarity Campaign have all created links - as have individuals such as Labour MP Yasmin Qureshi and different branches of the Green Party such as Chiltern. The Jews for Justice for Palestinians are also establishing a link.
