Gorleben fears it will become all of Europe's nuclear dump

People who have fought for 30 years against nuclear waste dumping at the north German village of Gorleben now fear that the salt deposit there will become an international final repository. If the exploratory salt mine in Gorleben, now temporarily stopped over safety concerns, were to start operating as a repository, “it would be an international repository because of substitution treaties already in place”.

Immediate withdrawal of all foreign troops
Howard’s recent proposal to double the number of Australian troops in Afghanistan has been applauded by Rudd and the ALP. The notion that more occupying troops will bring stability to Afghanistan must be opposed. Immediate withdrawal of all foreign troops would be a genuine step towards stability. However, given the almost total destruction of homes, schools, hospitals, industry and other infrastructure since 1992, payment of large scale reparations is also necessary.

Fifty people attended a Tea Party outside the gates of the Faslane Nuclear Base in Scotland. Tea was served in china cups and saucers. A table displayed vegan scones, cucumber sandwiches and cakes. Local residents were invited to share tea with activists and discuss how to disarm Britians Trident Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Parliament square One mans fight almost to death - for peace

A week after the Anti Trident protests outside parliamnet square I decided to spend an afternoon with Brian Haw and his fellow protestors who are currently camping outside the square. We discussed Trident itself, the Iraq war, the police and governments attempts to move them and I learnt a very moving story which deserves to be told to others from a very dedicated and determined man.
