Public meeting over future of NHS

10-03-2012 20:55

A public meeting to celebrate Mr Lloyd's success in the High Court and to discuss the next steps in ensuring Gloucestershire retains a publicly-owned and accountable community NHS service
Following a high court challenge by Stroud resident Michael Lloyd, NHS Gloucestershire has
withdrawn plans plans to transfer our local hospitals and 3000 NHS nurses and health
workers out of the NHS.
They agreed to go back to the drawing board, to consult the local community and health
workers about what they want, and to seek NHS options, which do not require a
competitive tendering process.
This is great news, but this is just the first step in keeping our health services in the NHS.
The campaign to Keep Gloucestershire’s NHS Public needs your support now more than ever

Death & Devil

10-03-2012 12:01

This is a message to everybody and nobody from no one in particular. I am writing because you need to know that I have no voice, no face and no identity. I only have a presence. But this includes all the world, even these who continue to abuse it. My past has been stolen from me, since I was looking at the future without an experience of abuse. Now history itself is revisionist because everything in the present is a lie in the flow of time. Any truth has become a target for evil, and the closest thing to evil on Earth, the regime, has attacked the closest thing to truth here, the human yearning. This means you because only you can abolish the regime, clear its legacies and rehabilitate the targeted. You have to decide upon what is to be done and how this can be successfully prevented in the future. Just like there already is a first amendment to the categorical imperative, you can add another one.

Nyagah wa Kamau / Stephen Nyash, RIP

09-03-2012 20:55

"Sissy ni watumishi wa community / We are servants of the community"

Kenya Indymedia has reported that on Tuesday, February 21, radio journalist and organizer Stephen Nyash was shot dead in the Korogocho ghetto of Nairobi, where he had lived and worked for most of his life. Korogocho is the third largest slum in the world [1]. At writing, the motive for his murder is not clear.

Nyash was one of the founders of KOCH FM [2], a close partner of Kenya Indymedia. He was also a leader in "Koch Hope" and "Ghetto Films," which worked to empower the slumdwellers of Korogocho. He brought this wealth of experience to the fourth IMC-Africa Convergence in Senegal last March as a representative of Kenya Indymedia. He was also integral in organizing a "Conference of People" held in Korogocho to coincide with the Conference of Parties (COP-17) gathering on climate change. Fellow organizer John Bwakali writes, "From the moment that he knew about Kenya Indymedia, Nyash became not just an active participant but fellow leader of the movement… Upon return [from Senegal], he immersed himself into the vision and work of Kenya Indymedia." Read John's Full Reflection HERE [3] and his audio interview with Nyash [4] on the fight against State injustices.
