Bloody Sunday Relative Speaks of 38 Years of Loss

The Troops Out Movement, which campaigns for British withdrawal from Ireland, held its annual Bloody Sunday Remembered meetings in the Midlands last week. The 1992 BBC film by Peter Taylor was shown and the main speaker was Cahil McElhinny whose brother Kevin was shot dead by British Soldiers on Bloody Sunday, 30th January 1972.

Tomorrow morning, Sir Michael Wood, former Foreign and Commonwealth Office Legal Adviser, gives evidence to the Chilcott Inquiry. To my mind, this is the most important evidence to be given so far. Michael's then deputy, Elizabeth Wilmshurst, who resigned over the war of aggression, will give evidence in the afternoon, I believe speaking in public for the first time since her resignation.

Israeli Border Police assaulted ten Palestinian labourers in the early hours of Sunday morning. The men were seized on the Palestinian side of the Al-Zaiem crossing, attempting to reach the construction site they work at in East Jerusalem.

A proposal for a non-ideological, word-of-mouth election campaign based on the principle of trust. In the forthcoming UK general election, candidates who represent no political party, only themselves (and by association the communities in which they live), stand for election with the single pledge to resign if elected. This gives voters a “none of the above” option, allowing them to vote against all the parties; but more than that, it gives them the chance to vote positively, for a trustworthy candidate who doesn't want power over others, and thus to vest moral authority in the local community, not in a distant Parliament.

Local people believe that loopy nazi John Coyne may have shot out his own pub windows in a bizarre attempt to smear anti fascist activists. Drunken Coyne has been at the centre of a political row and complaints from neighbours regarding his behaviour in the pub and his decision to let neo nazis hold meetings there. He plays loud music until 6am, lets kids in the pub where he watches porn dvds.
