Bulgaria: Plovdiv Accepted False Animal Birth Control Too

Today, it was published on the website of the Sofia News Agency, . Sinse 1990, in Bulgaria there is trend of increased pet keeping and roam, while good practice of animal birth control (ABC) remain unaccepted. In 2006 Sofia accepted catch-neuter-releace method to control local dog population size. Plovdiv is considered as the second most populous city.

Arora, the latest detention profiteer

Activists from No Borders London staged a protest last week inside the Arora International Hotel, near Heathrow airport, against the hotel owners' plans to turn one of their other hotels, at Gatwick airport, into an immigration prison. Driven by what appears to be a decline in business, Arora Management Services had applied to the Crawley Borough Council for permission to convert its four-star hotel, Mercure, into an immigration detention centre. As one of the protesters put it, "this is just another example of the cynical, profit-driven opportunism exhibited by big companies wanting a slice of the lucrative detention market."

The following advice from New Scientist is just a useful reminder that activist security means more than just removing your phones battery when discussing shit. It requires one caveat. When it says "Without direct access, they can still monitor your phone usage remotely, but not eavesdrop on your conversations" that this doesn't apply to the security services who can eavesdrop on turned off phones remotely.

Demonstrate to stop deportations to Iraq tomorrow - new info

The first deportation to Baghdad deported around forty people early on Thursday the 15th October on a specially chartered plane provided by Air Italy . We have since learnt that ten of the detained people were taken off the flight in Baghdad while the other detainees were not accepted by the Iraqi government and were flown back to detention in the UK. A Home Office statement has said they will "iron out" the difficulties they faced and "expect to carry out another flight".

BP recruitment event taken over by Oxford climate campaigners

BP's flagship annual recruitment event at Oxford's Randolph Hotel was disrupted last night when members of the audience jumped on the stage and took over the event. Around 20 campaigners targeted the 6.30pm event in protest at the company's recent decision to extract oil from Canada's Tar Sands.
