The distributed library project is part of an experiment in sharing information and building community. Unfortunately, the traditional library system doesn't do much to foster community. Patrons come and go, but there is very little opportunity to establish relationships with people or groups of people. In fact, if you try to talk with someone holding a book you like - you'll probably get shushed. On October 17th a Piccadilly line train crashed while less than 36 hours later a train derailed at Camden.Later 3,000 more people were stranded on the Victoria Line and had to be evacuated. Several people were injured in these incidents – which along with a crash on the Central line several months ago, co-incidentally followed the privatisation of large sections of the Underground network.
