The Coroners and Justice Bill is currently going through Parliament. Inquests into the deaths of prisoners are currently automatically heard before juries, yet the new Bill seeks to abolish this. Inquests concerning the deaths of all people held in custody or state detention should be held before juries.

Anti-deportation campaigners encase themselves in concrete and glass to stop mass deportation flight to Iraq

Campaigners from the Stop Deportation Network and the International Federation of Iraqi Refugees are blockading Colnbrook detention centre, near Heathrow airport, to stop 45 Iraqi refugees being forcibly deported to Iraqi Kurdistan on a specially chartered flight. Six protesters have encased their arms in glass and plastic tubes and concrete blocks, blocking the entrance to Colnbrook and Harmondsworth detention centres. The coaches to carry deportees to the airport have not been able to leave.

Is the "Face Hijackers" on Facebook anything to do with the real Space Hijackers? There is one [we need a tank] with what appears to be the REAL Spacehijacker people....Mayday and so on as the admins then there is another one run by other people including William Hudson from Housmans Bookshop which looks like a fake...they too are asking for donations for a tank! What is going on? Who is the real Spacehijackers? What is going on? will the real Spacehijackers please stand up?

Secret Nottingham City Council report leaked

In 2006, Nottingham City Council commissioned a report by Hardmoor Associates into the way the council works. When the report was delivered it described the institution as "dysfunctional." The council made numerous attempts to prevent the release of the highly critical report. However, in February the Evening Post was able to obtain a leaked copy and now the document has made its way onto a publicly available filesharing site, so its criticisms can be seen by everybody in the city.
