New Orleans (Update)

11-09-2005 01:11

From bad to worse is the new sub-text slogan for Bush and his administration. Appearing on US media, flanked by Cheney, Rumsfeld and numerous other (wooden) neo-cons, Bush repeated his rehearsed lines – “we are problem solvers”. This statement met with numerous reporters clearing their throats; the problem is Bush and his inept administration. The emperor is not only without clothes but is also devoid of ability. The corporate driven Bush government is learning that managing a nation has little in common with running an oil company. [Those best suited for government are dedicated to the selfless service of others – a concept totally alien to conservative ideology.]

Apartheid and Agrexco in the Jordan Valley

10-09-2005 09:50

In Israel and occupied Palestine the colour orange is symbolic of opposition to the Gaza ‘disengagement’. It can be seen on banners; t-shirts; propaganda material; protesters storming the old city in Jerusalem or the young people with petitions gathering signatures in Israeli bus stations. Orange streamers are handed out at road junctions in Israel and attached to cars flying down the settler-only highways of the West Bank.

It therefore came as a surprise to hear that one of the orange streamers was seen attached to a tractor belonging to a Bedouin Palestinian living in the Jordan Valley. When questioned, the man replied, “If they are thrown out of Gaza, they will come here. They are dangerous. We don’t want them here.”

(USA) What kind of organization does the antiwar movement need?

09-09-2005 16:05

An organization capable of overthrowing the system of imperialist rule cannot be built on a foundation of sand. Only principled, transparent and long-term collaboration between serious activists can:

(1) organize a decisive break from the
confinement of liberal-imperialist politics,
(2) mobilize the masses in their millions and
(3) chart the couse forward to a world without
imperialist war or capitalist exploitation
