Posstscript: the insurrectional perspective

More than a year has passed since we finished the second issue of our journal Dissident, which introduced insurrectional anarchism in Sweden. We chose to introduce the insurrectional perspective because we think it brings us valuable insights and experiences. These include the critique of organisational fetishism and activism, the shift of perspective from the mass to the active minority, and the importance of projectuality. Some critics, mostly syndicalists, unfortunately interpreted the insurrectional perspective in absolute terms. This text aims to answer those concerns and move the discussion forward.

Funke Olubiyi and her young son Joseph from Nigeria were detained on Monday 16th July at around midday when they went to sign in the Home Office in Glasgow. They were taken to Dungavel the same day and now they have a removal date for tomorrow Thursday 19th July from Gatwick airport.

Athens: anarchist bank robber gets 25 years

Athens - A self-proclaimed anarchist bank robber arrested after a shoot-out in Athens city centre in 2006 was jailed for 25 years on Tuesday.

To jeers from dozens of young anarchists and amid a heavy police presence, an Athens criminal court found 28-year-old Iannis Dimitrakis guilty of armed robbery, attempted homicide and membership of a criminal organisation.

On Friday the 6th of July a group of anarchists squatted an old “cinema” building in the city of Iasi, close to the ukrainian/moldavien borders. This first Romanian squat is named “Rebil” as an anagram for “liber” meaning free in Romanian.

As an action in our struggle against the destruction of the Icelandic wilderness the first ever RTS has taken place in Reykjavik. Four people were arrested, and the level of police brutality was extreme by Icelandic standards. The action ended with a redecoration of the police station where the detainees were held.
