While the Arab spring is bringing democracy to Libya and Egypt Saudi Arabia continues to abuse millions of domestic workers. Hundreds and maybe thousands of working class women working as virtual slave labourers in their employers houses in middle-eastern countries have been killed without. Nothing is done as working class women from poor countries are seen as expendable.

EGYPT: Imprisoned blogger Maikel Nabil Sanad on hunger strike moved to solitary

Maikel Nabil Sanad, the imprisoned pacifist blogger and conscientious objector sentenced to three years' imprisonment for "insulting the military" on 10 April 2011 (see co-alert, 11 April 2011), began a hunger strike in protest against his continued imprisonment on Tuesday, 23 August 2011 (see co-alert, 24 August 2011). In a new development, he has now been moved to solitary confinement, but the prison authorities refuse to transfer him to the prison hospital.

Fightback Against Atos Censorship!

The Carer Watch forums forced offline by poverty pimps Atos Origin are still not back despite Atos claiming to be willing to negotiate. It now appears that Atos are refusing to even state which posts on the site, a volunteer-run online meeting place for disabled people and their carers, they have deemed to be ‘libellous’ (1).

A mass trespass stops work, one person on top of a digger for 4 hours

Today 25 people from Rossport Solidarity Camp sustained a barrage of actions against the site Shell is preparing for its tunnel boring machine. Despite 80 security and three vans of gardaí they were unable to keeps the protesters out. In the chaos that ensued one person got through the lines to d-lock themselves to one of the diggers and remained up there stopping work for 4 hours. Elsewhere other diggers had to stop working as protestors approached.
