New! ISRAEL: THE NEW APARTHEID - Tuesday 28 October, 7pm, Cross Street Chapel. Susan Nathan, a 54 year old teacher and former Aids counsellor with the Lighthouse Project in London, moved to Israel 4 years ago as a convinced Zionist. As a child she had been brought up to believe uncritically in the State of Israel – her parents were close friends of Abba Eban, the Israeli foreign minister during the Six Day War, when Israel seized the West Bank, Gaza Strip and the Golan Heights. Yet Susan’s illusions were shattered when confronted with the reality of the occupation and Palestinian suffering. She now works on a project to expose the similarities between Israeli and former South African apartheid, travelling regularly to South Africa to work with the Tutu Foundation. PSC are pleased to welcome Susan to speak on the parallels between Israel and the former South African Apartheid and the lessons that can be learnt for the Palestinian struggle for freedom and justice.
