Thousands Rally and March in Washington, D.C. to 'Let Gaza Live'

Today I participated in ANSWER's march and rally, "Let Gaza Live" in Washington, D.C. Attendance was excellent despite the weather. Among the many friends in attendance, I met a young man and his daughter who had come all the way from Greensboro, North Carolina to participate. The crowd was one of the most diverse that I have ever seen. I think our message is reaching deep into our country's heartland. Here are my remarks:

Mounting evidence is emerging that Israel is experimenting new non-conventional weapons on civilian population in Gaza . "It is happening again what we saw in Lebanon two years ago", says Paola Manduca , genetics teacher and researcher at the University of Genoa and member of New Weapons Research Committee (NWRC), "where Israel used white phosphorus, Dense inert metal explosive (DIME), thermobaric bombs, cluster bombs and uranium ammunitions and experimented novel weapons and delivery modalities. Still today there are unexploded bombs and radioactivity on the ground".

Today's demonstration to the Israeli Embassy in central London was massive. Estimates talk about 100,000 people taking part. A call for an anarchist / anti-authoritarian presence at the demo was made earlier in the week, which has materialised today with a clearly visible block. Here there are some pics of it.

US resupplying Israel from port in Greece

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz is reporting that the U.S. has arranged for a charter ship "to carry 325 standard 20-foot containers of what is listed as 'ammunition' on two separate journeys from the Greek port of Astakos to the Israeli port of Ashdod in mid-to-late January." The type and nature of the shipment is described as "pretty rare."

Frome Friends of Palestine - Gaza Vigil and Discussions with Lloyds

A record number of people gathered in Cornmarket St Oxford on Thursday evening, January 8, to protest against the ongoing Israeli attack on Gaza. All sections of the community were represented and people stood in the cold for two hours with banners, placards and candles, some waving Palestinian flags. The vigil was followed by a meeting in the Town Hall of the Oxford Stop the War Coalition.
