Desperate to stop the "truth telling

15-12-2010 19:15

"The imperialists of the world are desperate to stop the "truth telling" of wikileaks. To do so they have thrown away the cover of respect of "freedom of speech" in particular and "support of democratic principals" in general. They are naked now in their hatred of democracy.

Organize, resist, do all that you can to protect these true heros from attack. Most importantly, aid them in their efforts to reveal the truths that just may "set us free."

EDO Blockaded Again

14-12-2010 10:14

Early this morning a group of activists locked themselves to the gates of the EDO/ITT weapons factory in Brighton. SmashEDO press spokesperson Andrew Beckett said,

'Once again EDO boss Paul Hills has been forced to angle grind his way through his own fence to get his workers back to their murderous production line. Today's action has been taken in protest against EDO/ITT's complicity in civilian deaths in the US' war of aggression in Afghanistan, and to show EDO that wherever in the world they profit from death and misery, we'll be here in Brighton to fight back'.

1697 duplicate wikileaks sites and growing

" this document has those 1697 links to wikileaks mirror sites. Make it impossible for this information to be “disappeared” like so many victims of CIA/client state butchery. This is an opportunity that will not come often. Take advantage of it now. Spread very, very widely."

PS Also, please don't let the U.S. have Julian Assange. If that happens he will be torturted and likely killed. He deserves our admiration and protection.

UG#529 - Unite and Conquer 1 (The Realisation of Unity)

11-12-2010 23:27

Audio
This week we question the reductionist science of the discrete and separate self. Our opening talk, by Paul Bloom, looks at research into the human moral sense, and presents findings which suggests that children even only a few months old are possessed of some kind of moral sense. We follow this up with a heartfelt talk from peace activist Brian Willson, on the need for US culture to break out of its self-imposed box and relate healthily with the world at large. Our major talk, by evolutionary biologist and gift economy activist, Elisabet Sahtouris, is a wide ranging one. She directly challenges reductionist models of evolution, preferring a holistic view, concluding that humanity is undergoing a change akin to the metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly.

Wikileaks: A big dangerous US government con job

10-12-2010 20:35

The story on the surface makes for a script for a new Oliver Stone Hollywood thriller. A 39-year old Australian hacker holds the President of the United States and his State Department hostage to a gigantic cyber “leak,” unless the President leaves Julian Assange and his Wikileaks free to release hundreds of thousands of pages of sensitive US Government memos. A closer look at the details, so far carefully leaked by the most ultra-establishment of international media such as the New York Times, reveals a clear agenda. That agenda coincidentally serves to buttress the agenda of US geopolitics around the world from Iran to Russia to North Korea. The Wikileaks is a big and dangerous US intelligence Con Job which will likely be used to police the Internet.

WikiLeaks, WikiDrama and WikiGossip

09-12-2010 22:38

Remember that the corporate press tends to be pro-war. The more cynical might argue that the fact that the corporate press is publishing all of the cables released by Wikileaks could imply that the material is not fundamentally of an anti-war nature.

The more cynical also point out that many credible whistleblowers - including former high-level government officials - have been ignored over the last 10 years by the corporate media when they have disclosed facts which challenged core U.S. policy. But Wikileaks is getting 24/7 coverage. I'm strongly for whistleblowers ... I'm just not convinced that WikiLeaks is as hard-hitting as other whistleblower groups out there.

Wikileaks and media disinformation: North Korea, Iran and Belarus

08-12-2010 22:12

Much is being written in the mainstream press about the internet whistle-blowing website Wikileaks. But the interpretation and significance of those Wikileaks stories disseminated throughout the corporate media must be subjected to careful and critical analysis.

There is little that is particularly shocking about the recent Wikileaks. What is striking about many of the latest leaks is their conformity to the lies and disinformation regularly diffused by the mainstream media.

The upshot of this is that, while exposés of American war crimes should damage America’s imperial ambitions, other ‘leaks’ could actually serve the opposite purpose, especially when they are uncritically reported as ‘revelations’. In this article we are going to look at two examples of how Wikileaks stories could be used to further a US imperialist agenda.

2005: The US and North Korea

"The North [Korea]...wants to phase out its nuclear program, but through dialogue, since the U.S. is directly threatening the North with nuclear weapons."
"..the U.S. should come with sincerity and honest minds to resolve this issue...the current U.S. proposal that we [North Korea] dismantle our nuclear program, after which they will give assurances is not fair - the two gestures should occur simultaneously.."
