Endless War

07-03-2009 11:08

The damage done by the complete capitulation of many progressives to Barack Obama is now bearing fruit. He is able to dismiss them and his own party without suffering any political damage.

Obama proves that there is only one political party in this country when foreign policy decisions are being made. George W. Bush may no longer be in the White House, but because of capitulation to the Obama administration, his grand plan for endless war will be a reality for a very long time to come.

Clarion / ExCel told: "Arms fairs are not child's play"

07-03-2009 07:53

Anti-arms trade campaigners protested outside The Baby Show at the ExCel centre in London's Docklands last weekend. Clarion Events, the owner of The Baby Show, plans to stage the world's largest arms trade fair, DSEi, at ExCel in September 2009, with the full blessing and support of the Ministry of Defence. The previous owner of DSEi, Reed Elsevier, was forced to sell its arms fairs after pressure from campaigners, shareholders and customers. As well as owning five international arms fairs and recently joining the Defence Manufacturers' Association, Clarion organises a diverse range of exhibitions, including, in addition to The Baby Show, the Spirit of Christmas Fair, The International Horse Show and Destinations - The Holiday and Travel Show, all of which have been met by protests in recent months. ExCel, which again plans to host DSEi, is now owned by the Emirates-based Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company (ADNEC).

What's Really Happening In Darfur?: An Interview with Mahmood Mamdani

06-03-2009 16:44

The picture of the conflict in Darfur as "Arab-on-black" or even "black on black" genocide tells more about the U.S. than it does about Darfur, Sudan, or Africa. It is a false picture, brought to us by the corporate U.S. media to justify one of Uncle Sam's (maybe even Uncle Barack's) oil and resource wars in Sudan. After all, Sudanese oil IS flowiing to China through Chinese companies, not Western ones, and that will not be tolerated.

Ruminations on President Obama's Tenure Thus Far and “Acceptable Punditry”

04-03-2009 18:33

Cynthia McKinney
I have read and re-read President Obama's Joint Congressional Address. All of the "acceptable punditry" have spoken and given the President glowing reviews. And so, to them and the population that still believes in them, "All is right with the world." But for the rest of us, who refuse to swallow the pill that puts us into the Matrix, a good dose of reality is strongly called for.

The Fox Guarding the Chicken Coop: Dennis Ross and Iran

01-03-2009 14:20

Dennis Ross
Whatever the reason for the postponement of Ross’s appointment and change of title, one thing is clear: the sly fox is now guarding the chicken coop. As Mel Levine said about Ross: “He’d be great for Israel.”

With the help of Richard Holbrooke, Stuart Levey and all the other “president’s Middle East men,” Dennis Ross might be able to finish the unfinished business of the neoconservatives, the containment of Iraq and Iran.
