Clinton: US can't prevent Israel attacking Lebanon if Hizbullah continues arming

02-03-2010 22:55

map of the "New Middle East"
During the Israeli war on Lebanon in 2006, the then US Foreign Minister Condoleezza Rice wrongly predicted the outcome by announcing "the birth pangs of a new Middle East"

Four years later, her successor Hillary Clinton's threats against Lebanon indicate that the next step of the "New Middle East" project will involve a war on multiple fronts: Iran, Syria, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.

South Atlantic: Britain May Provoke New Conflict With Argentina

28-02-2010 20:05

The Sun, 18 February 2010
On February 18,the UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown stated "We have made all the preparations that are necessary to make sure that the Falkland Islanders are properly protected," [15] although Argentine officials have repeatedly denied the possibility of a military response to British encroachments and provocations in the South Atlantic Ocean.

4 days later, the British Desire Petroleum company began exploring for oil and gas off the Falklands/Las Malvinas, seized from Argentina by Britain in 1833 and fought over by the nations in a 74-day war in 1982.

London's energy grab in the South Atlantic did not go unnoticed in Mexico, where the leaders of 26 South and Central American countries attended the Unity Summit.

Britain is playing with fire and if it ignites a new conflict it could rapidly spread far beyond the waters off the southern tip of South America.

2009 Toll of Nato Air Strikes: 131 Dead Children

28-02-2010 17:04

Nato Air Strikes, 131 Dead Children
After an air strike that killed many kids in the beginning of 2010, shouts of ‘Death to America’ and to ‘the Afghan government’ could be heard throughout Afghan villages and perhaps in other Muslim communities around the world. Those local, regional and global anti-American, anti-NATO, and anti-Afghan government sentiments will only be more widespread and vicious now that a UN report found that some 346 children were killed in Afghanistan in 2009. 131 of those kids were killed in NATO air strikes. 22 more were killed in nighttime raids. And in the last few weeks alone, up to 50 civilians have been murdered. In essence, there have been more and more civilian casualties as the US/NATO forces attempt to ‘liberate’ the Afghan people. More are likely to come as well.

Germany's Unilateral Sanction against Itself and the Unspoken Moral of the Story

27-02-2010 21:04

Why is Germany ashamed of its past vis-à-vis the Jewish people but not the Iranian or Iraqi Kurdish people? How is it morally consistent for Germany to cry for responsibility, transparency, and honesty regarding production and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in the world while failing to apply these same principles to itself?

21st Century Strategy: Militarized Europe, Globalized NATO

27-02-2010 14:38

US Defense Secretary Robert Gates launched into a diatribe against a fictitious peace contagion enveloping Europe – when almost the entire continent is now absorbed by NATO and practically every nation on it has sent troops to a war zone in Asia:

“One of the triumphs of the last century was the pacification of Europe after ages of ruinous warfare. But, ... I believe we have reached an inflection point, where much of the continent has gone too far in the other direction. The demilitarization of Europe – where large swaths of the general public and political class are averse to military force and the risks that go with it – has gone from a blessing in the 20th century to an impediment to achieving real security and lasting peace in the 21st.”

A cultural infection of pacifism. A non-existent demilitarization of Europe which threatens peace. Sentiments of this type have not been voiced in Europe itself since the late 1930s and early 1940s, when like now most of the continent was united under one politico-military power.

Andi Ali's book on the BNP Dead Paki Walking: A study of the BNP

25-02-2010 17:46

During his investigations into the British National Party (BNP), academic researcher Andi Ali has come face-to-face with the brutal reality of racism in the UK. Threatened as a 'Dead Paki Walking' Ali has been beaten, stabbed and even abducted, and is included on the Neo-Nazi Redwatch hit-list. Ali s academic research in to the BNP has made him powerful enemies who have warned him to stop his activities. When he refused he was viciously assaulted outside Downing Street and left for dead. In Dead Paki Walking, Ali explains how his investigations started and of the means members of the far-right have taken to smear his name in order to stop his activities. As an autobiography, Dead Paki Walking is written in the first person and reads like a dark and sinister political thriller. The frightening fact is that the BNP are attracting an increasing number of supporters. If nothing else, Andi's book epitomizes the maxim 'know thine enemy'. This disturbing autobiography is a tale of one man's battle against racial intolerance, which Ali has fought everyday to uphold the liberal values in which he believes.

Understanding the Nature of the Global Economic Crisis

24-02-2010 17:43

"The sovereign debt crises that have been unfolding in the past couple years and more recently in Greece, are canaries in the coal mine for the rest of Western “civilization.” The crisis threatens to spread to Spain, Portugal and Ireland; like dominoes, one country after another will collapse into a debt and currency crisis, all the way to America."

Mossad’s Murderous Reach: The Larger Political Issues

22-02-2010 18:18

Mossad death squads operate directly under the Israeli Prime Minister (who personally approved the recent murder). The vast majority of Israelis proudly support these assassinations, especially when the killers escape detection and capture. The unfettered operation of foreign state-sponsored death squads, carrying out extra-judicial assassinations with impunity, is a serious threat to every critic, writer, political leader and civic activist who dares to criticize Israel.

In Niger human rights organizations, trade unions, and opposition parties (including the Niger Party for Democracy and Socialism) are all supporting the coup. 10,000 people rallied in support on February 20th.

Meanwhile the US, France, UK, UN, and African Union all have been quick to condemn the coup.

Tandja did the bidding of U.S. imperialism. Meanwhile, according to the UN Development Program’s 2006 Human Development Index, Niger is the poorest country in the world.
