A small but dedicated group of Nottingham residents and activists have built a 25 foot willow wood rifle. It will be marched to the UK head quarters of international gun makers and sellers Heckler and Koch, Easter Park Industrial Estate, Lenton, Nottingham.

Poppy Appeal billboard 'vandal' apologises

Both the Army Romors Service website and a local paper in Kent are today reporting that a public 'apology' has been issued by the person who subvertised one of the Afghan Generation poppy appeal posters at Gillingham train station. According to the report on Kent News, the same billboard has been subvertised again, this time with the new message "SORRY. NEVER AGAIN...?"

The Brighton Tubas Region Friendship and Solidarity Group is a network aiming at fostering links between community organisations in Tubas, occupied Palestine and Brighton. The Tubas Region, which includes the Northern Jordan Valley, is an area Israel wants to ethnically cleanse and annex. Israel is doing this by making life impossible for the people of the valley.

Around the country billboards containing Poppy Appeal posters from the Royal British Legion are displaying images of British soldiers in Afghanistan, or their greiving widows and family. While the appeal tried to raise it's annual £30 million, most people think the best way to help the troops is to bring them home and prosecute the politicians who sent them. Below we outline how to modify these billboards yourself to carry the messages 'BRING 'EM HOME' and 'PROSECUTE BLAIR'

Subvertising hits the big time - media outrage at poppy appeal subverts

The power of simple subvertising was demonstrated this week when a little cut and paste work on a few billboards became a national media story. Elevated from a being noticed by just a few passers by to tens of thousands of readers and TV viewers, the subvertisement of poppy appeal posters has apparently hit a chord.

Defence company to undertake U.K. National Census (and those of other countries)

The UK 2011 census will be undertaken by Lockheed Martin. This US corporation is the world’s largest defence company, manufacturing Trident and part owning Aldermaston. US law could allow census data to be passed to the US government. (The following is a draft motion to be presented by Canterbury Green Party to the National Conference. It is not party policy.)

Tens of thousands of labourers are employed in construction of the wall, settlements and the industries around them. Despite a 2007 Israeli High Court ruling that gave the same rights to Palestinians working in settlements as Israelis, the reality is still low wages, hazardous conditions and no job security.

York Students Disrupt BAE Recruitment

A group of nearly 20 students took part in a non-violent intervention against the arms company BAE at today's University-wide careers fair, by staging a die in and handing out leaflets to passers by. The group, members of University of York's DISARM campaign, used the action to highlight BAE's impending trial for corruption.

In November the NATO Parliamentary Assembly will meet in Edinburgh. The NATO Parliamentary Assembly is an attempt at legitimising the alliance with a hint of democracy. This is a front. The NATO PA does nothing but maintain NATO's role as a global military force used by the west to dominate and control. Its influence stretches from the highlands of Scotland where nature reserves are used as playgrounds for NATO's war games, to the highlands of Afghanistan where villages live in fear of NATO attack.
