Extrajudicial Assassinations As Official Israeli Policy

21-11-2008 21:25

Throughout its history, Israel willfully and systematically committed premeditated extrajudicial killings of Palestinians and other Arabs as official state policy - carried out with explicit high-level political, judicial and military authorization and allegedly in "self-defense" against individuals threatening Israeli security.

Almost never do Israeli government or military officials show evidence that targeted individuals acted violently or threatened Jewish citizens. Simply calling them "terrorists" is justification enough - to kill them extrajudicially, with no recourse to due process or respect for international law that bans the practice for any reason.

The masters of economic disaster are back

20-11-2008 08:56

It's not as if we at BAR didn't warn you. Barack Obama's first major act as
president-elect was to select as his chief of staff Rep. Rahm Emanuel, whose
"role as Chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee was to
insure that anti-war and other progressive candidates stayed out of the
running." So when do the protests begin? "Progressives for Obama and other
groups who promised to hold their idol accountable haven't gotten around to
doing so just yet or even announcing when the time will be right for their
tongues to become untied."

Somalia: The Specter of Detrimental Trusteeship

20-11-2008 08:14

Somalia, invaded and occupied by Ethiopia with the encouragement of the
United States, is now to be reduced to a "trusteeship" of Addis Ababa, the
aggressor. "This is a case of putting the fox in charge of the barn so that
he may teach the chicken how to function in an orderly manner!" Those
Somalis that choose to recognize Ethiopia's authority will be targeted by
the resistance, deepening conflicts in that wounded society. That may be
Ethiopia's intention. "Ethiopia is set to discredit any vestige of
nationalist leadership and to spread violence and hate."

Obama's Intelligence Agenda

18-11-2008 18:24

While expectations may be high that the incoming Obama administration will
reverse many of the worst features of the Bush regime--from warrantless
wiretapping, illegal detention, torture, "targeted assassinations" and
preemptive war--now that the cheering has stopped, expect more of the same.

According to The Wall Street Journal [1], "President-elect Barack Obama is
unlikely to radically overhaul controversial Bush administration
intelligence policies, advisers say, an approach that is almost certain to
create tension within the Democratic Party."

Barack Obama: The Empire’s New Clothes

15-11-2008 14:36

Paul Krugman in the New York Times (a left-liberal Obama critic during the primary campaign) says there's "something wrong with you" if you weren't "teary-eyed" about Obama's election. Yes, numerous other radicals and I need to be put under psychiatric care because we didn't cry over the militantly bourgeois and openly imperialist Obama's presidential selection.
