ITT - EDO MBM Begins Full Scale Paveway IV Guided Bomb Production in Brighton

After 4 years of developmental setbacks the Raytheon IV guided bomb is now in full production in the UK.

The new weapon is intended to replace the Paveway III guided bomb, the most commonly used munition in the 2003 'shock and awe' bombing of Iraq.

EDO MBM Technology Ltd (now owned by ITT Corp) are UK design and production partners on the new 'smart bomb' with Raytheon, Portsmouth Aviation, and Thales.

Once again EDO MBM is found to be at the heart of UK and joint US/UK military operations in Iraq and Afganistan.

Case dismissed: first SOCPA 128 on nuclear licensed site

Newbury magistrates today dismissed a case of trespass on a nuclear
licensed site against an Aldermaston peace campaigner. The prosecution
was the first of its kind brought under the Serious Organised Crime and
Police Act (SOCPA s128, as amended by s12 of the Terrorism, Act 2006, to
apply to nuclear licensed sites).

H&K guns illegally exported to Georgian war zone

Georgian elite forces fighting in South Ossetia have been illegally armed with Heckler & Koch assault rifles.

According to Human Rights Watch, the Georgian military "used indiscriminate and disproportionate force resulting in civilian deaths in South Ossetia". However, that hasn't stopped these war criminals from becoming customers of Heckler & Koch!

Why Not Simply Abolish NATO?

In the United States, both the Republicans and the Democrats see the old NATO transformed into this new offensive military alliance as a good (neocon) idea to promote American interests around the world, as well as those of its close allies, such as Israel. It is not only an idea actively promoted by the neocon Bush-Cheney administration, but also by the neoconservative advisers to both 2008 American presidential candidates, Sen. John McCain and Sen. Barack Obama. Indeed, both 2008 presidential candidates are enthusiastic military interventionists, and this is essentially because both rely on advisers originating from the same neocon camp.

Still at the centre of the threat scenario is the alleged statement of Iran’s president of 26/10/2005 saying Iran wanted to wipe Israel off the map, wanted to raze Israel to the ground (with the atom bomb). We have often proven that this alleged statement originates from a falsification and that Iran’s president has actually given expression to his expectation that the regime occupying Jerusalem - the Zionist regime as he often calls it - will disappear. To insinuate that the Iranian president wanted to destroy Israel – and thus the Jews – is – and that cannot be emphasised enough – as though you wanted to assert that the demand for the end of the Apartheid regime was the same as demanding the destruction of South Africa.

8-8-88 Burma Protests and Bike for Burma Report

Friday 8th August marked the 20th Anniversary of the 8-8-88 Burma democracy uprising in which at least 3,000 unarmed Burmese protesters were murdered by the Burmese junta. In London the Burmese unveiled a glass memorial at the peace park near the Imperial War museum, held a protest for political prisoners at the Burmese Embassy and in the evening had an exhibition on Burmese political prisoners at the School of Oriental and African Studies. The following day the new generation of Burmese students and exiled activists held a Bike for Burma event around London to remember 8-8-88 and ask people not to forget Burma.
