M&S Picket: Oppose Zionist/Police Aggression

This Saturday, 18th September, the Marks & Spencer picket was again attacked by Zionist thugs waving Israeli and British flags. On the 22nd anniversary of Sabra and Shatilla where 3,500 Palestinians and Lebanese were massacred, the Israeli and British fascists came out, with full police cooperation, to show their support for these brutal actions and again attempt to get the pro-Palestinian protest kicked "off the streets of Manchester". This time we were well prepared and we outnumbered the racists, but as last week showed this might not always be the case.

Peruvian activist jailed in Bolivia (accused of "subversion")

Peruvian student activist Cesar Zelada has been arrested by the Bolivian authorities and is kept in jail. He is accussed of "subversion" and was arrested while part of a solidarity delegation visiting the Bolivian Workers Union Youth (COB). If found guilty he could spend between 3 and 6 years in jail.

Cambridge Forum on Kurdish Human Rights

This Tuesday, September 21st, we have Kerim Yildiz of the Kurdish Human
Rights Project coming up from London to talk to Cambridge Forum. The meetings are held
at CB1 café, 32, Mill Rd, just down from Parker's Piece and the swimming
pool, on the right, by the bus stop. Entrance to Cambridge Forum is free.
The meetings are non-smoking and run from 8pm to10pm.

I am considering writing under a male pseudonym. I truly wonder, with almost all male editors and writers in alternative media, and in a sexist society, what effect me writing under a female name has. Am I getting less pay? Am I getting published less? Am I taken less seriously?

Traveller Site Raided...

More than 150 police from four different forces, a police helicopter and 35 vehicles were used to raid a Traveller site in York on Thursday. In the early morning all residents were removed from their homes and all dwellings were searched.

6 dead in Nablus, 30 injured - Israelis kill 10 year old girl

In the early hours of this morning there was a major invasion in the centre of Nablus, not far from Al Najah university. Six people were killed, one of them a girl of ten years old. Around thirty were injured, nearly all of them children. At least two of the injured are still in critical condition.

IMC @ ESF: 4 days of Communication Rights +Tactical Media Production

There will be an IMC centre open daily at the Camden Centre, near kings cross, and other imc / alt media access nodes in other autonomous venues. The camden centre will house four days of Communication Rights discussion and Tactical Media Production - a collaboration between progressive electronic networks, community media and privacy groups. This is but one of the many autonomous spaces and initiatives around the ESF. More info coming soon...
