FIT in Brighton

FIT (the Metropolitan Police's Forward Intelligence Team) are monitoring people going in and out of the Cowley Club on London Rd in Brighton (2.30). There have been two officers opposite the front and back of the club entrance for the last few hours, so far just making notes.

London Mayday does not draw the numbers it used to a few years back, when thousands roamed the streets. The spirit of Mayday was still there though at The Bank, with a Maypole and dancing and some familiar faces from the past.

witnessing a humanitarian crisis the likes of which were once unheard of
in the modern western Europe. Thousands of people risk their lives to
enter England in search of a new life, surviving with the 'illegal'
solidarity of local people. It is a bottleneck of the resistance of
migrants from around the world who are challenging Fortress Europe by
their attempts to move. It will also be the location for a No Border camp
this summer, (23-29 June.) People from the No Borders Network in the UK
report back on a recent trip to Calais, put the mobilisation into context
and shine a light on the crisis in Calais to illuminate the relevance of
the No Borders position.

McDonalds Protester Found "Not Guilty"!

An activist from Animal Rights Cambridge arrested under Section 5 of the Public Order Act for a protest inside the McDonalds restaurant in Cambridge in June 2008 was found 'not guilty' today (30th April 09) .

It's been touch and go this week as 28 year old hunger striker Parameswarn Subramaniyan's situation has gotten worse. Fearing that he could die, Mr. Subramaniyan has since agreed to end his hunger strike and talks are currently going on inside Parliament between the Foreign Secretary and the Tamil community.
