Sussex Police Plan for anti-protest Dispersal Order at EDO Factory

In 2006 Brighton arms maker EDO MBM and Sussex Police failed to get a permanent High Court injunction that would control protests at EDO MBM due to
the lack of legal justification and the abuse of the legal process by the company. It cost EDO MBM over $1 million.

Now Sussex Police internal minutes from Jan 2009 reveal they plan an even stricter ban on protest activities at the factory with the use of an anti-social behaviour 'Disperal Order'.

Thirty-one year old Thodoris Iliopoulos is the last prisoner of the December 2008 Greek revolt. He has been in pre-trial detention for more than eight months after his arrest on December 18th in downtown Athens.

Just this morning 15 cops entered the Pashtun jungle and photographed migrants. They had the map with red dots marked on them.

They also dismanteled one shelter in the palestinian/arabic speaking squat claiming that the migrants had stolen the pallets from a truck.

A recent report released by Statewatch has highlighted the direction in which EU-wide policymaking is likely to heading until the middle of the next decade. The full article here contains a press release from the European Civil Liberties Network which breaks down the 60-page report into something less lengthy. The major themes are massively increased surveillance, tighter social control, and a harsher border regime. It is stated within the report, 'The Shape of Things To Come' by Tony Bunyan, that funding for 'security' in the EU's 2007-2012 financial plan is set to increase by 968%.

Appeal for Guler Zere, who has been in jail in Turkey for 14 years. She is now severely ill with cancer but the authorities are not releasing her, even though prison conditions give her no chance of recovery. A campaign has started for her release, and there is also an appeal for an urgent delegation to Turkey.

According to the reports which have been published about the Islamic Republic's prisons, demonstrators arrested in the recent uprisings, particularly those in Kahrizak prison, have been raped in group, and banes and guards have put them under the worst medieval tortures. Many of the detainees, female or male, have died in rape rooms because they have been repeatedly raped and group raped and due to rupture of uterus or rectum and internal bleeding.
