Mass Protests Rock Iran: No to All Wings of the Mullah Regime!
25-06-2009 13:38
For more than a week, Iran has been convulsed by mass demonstrations denouncing election fraud. Hundreds of thousands have repeatedly taken to the streets to denounce the government, which is now threatening, and beginning to carry out, a bloody crackdown. This time around, imperialist intervention is veiled: the White House feigns neutrality, the Western media go all out for the opposition, while in the background various agencies provide vital technical aid. In reality, all candidates in the presidential vote swear allegiance to the Islamic Republic, and the supposed moderate reformers are no less butchers and enemies of poor and working people than the conservative "populist" government. The situation cries out for revolutionary leadership independent of all factions of the theocracy, to wage a struggle for workers revolution against imperialism and clerical reaction.TUC joined the International solidarity action day!

"The following is a guest post from Slavoj Žižek, Apparently the mainstream media has not shown interest in publishing it. The piece is copy-right free and you should feel free to republish this on your own blog. "one would be expecting a miracle to expect Ahamdinejad apologists, who have been supporting his govornment based on illusioins that a middle class uprising is in place in Iran. Mind you Sepah, the main supporter of Ahmadinejad is a multi- million corporation. most people in the rural areas of Iran, who many in the left believe have voted for Ahmadinejad, are from ethnic minorities who would either, NOT vore, or should they come to the polls is to protests to the pro-regime candidate. Ahmadinejad govornment has the control of the Media, the Police, Riot police, funded by a multi million corporation (Sepaah e Paasdaaraan) and the new regime-dependant corporations and middle class. Open your eyes, only a tyranny who has acknowledged lack of legitimacy, would kill cruch demonstrations in such a scale , to save their position. Is the British left really that blind?
Update And Info From Calais No Border Camp
24-06-2009 16:55
A farcical curtain of steel has descended on Calais, and the massive campaign of demonisation of our camp by the local authorities continues in the press. The camp is now fully set up with approx 300 people from all over Europe. Many local people are visiting the site and a group of around 40 mostly Kurdish and Afghani migrants. It is nice big site, quite open for people to come walk around and a lot of local kids hanging out. It runs alongside the main motorway from the port out of town and is just a few minutes from the Jungle, the makeshift camps where migrants are living. Many of the migrants seem to be very young, one just 12 year old Afghani visited the camp last night. Migrants report that currently the controls at the border are very tight and that no one has been getting through for few weeks, consequently the number of migrants in Calais are at their highest in several years.Interview with El Libertario (Venezuela – June 2009)
