We were 24 glad cyclists who turned up in Gustaf Adolfs Torg in central Gothenburg to celebrate cycling and celebrate we did. Nothing in comparison to London’s thousands but still it was our first ride.London Critical Mass reports

Today is the first London Critical Mass ride after participants were informed about possible arrests at future Critical Mass rides. The Metropolitan Police demanded that the 'organisers' give notice of the route at least six days in advance [report]. The Rhythms of Resistance Samba Band has been practicing samba on wheels.
Solidarity rides are taking place simultaneously in Bristol and Brighton In this posting, we are collecting updates from the streets in London.

I recently had the good fortune to read Henry David Thoreau's essay "Civil Disobedience". I did not realise it when I first started reading but this essay has a most remarkable history. Tolstoy, Gandhi and Martin Luther King have all read and been influenced by it. Emma Goldman, the American anarchist, was arrested for reading Thoreau's essay from a public platform in 1917.Take Back Dublin City
