Nearly 30 Months of Neglect: Sparkbrook Social Centre Remains Abandoned

The Cottage of Content social house at 147 Kyrwicks Lane, Sparkbrook has had a turbulent past two years. Following an eviction, criminal damage, an occupation and attempted restoration, followed by another eviction, the building continues to rot on the corner of Montpellier Street, with Birmingham City Council seemingly oblivious to its presence or its potential.

DSEi footage wanted, screening 'Lord of War' Thursday

The weekly cinema at the rampART social centre will be screening Lord of War this thursday along with DSEi footage, so if you were filming please contribute your rushes or finished edits. Screening starts 8pm so you just have time to scream at a few delegates going into the arms dealers dinner at the Dorchester before hightailing it over to rampART for more immoral death and destruction.

'Anarchy' in Piccadilly

I was walking down London's Piccadilly yesterday and stumbled upon Raymond Charles Dell's street exhibition, Anarchy in the UK, which has been on display every weekend for almost 40 years. The pictures, all marked with a circled A and priced £8 each, ranged from anti-war and anti-establishment to images of resistance from different eras. Luckily, i had a friend's camera with me so i took some pictures.

"MediaSpree" is a capitalistic project made by big companies, like "O2", "Anschutz Entertainment Group" ( ), "MTV", "Universal", ..., to build big, ugly blocks, near by the Spree river who cross 2 "poor" quarters (Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain) in Berlin.

Camberwell Squatted Centre Evicted 30-08-07

Camberwell Squatted Centre was unexpectedly evicted this morning by the police and high court bailiffs. The building had been occupied since March 2007 and was planning a busy weekend of events including a soca night, a bike wheel making workshop and a vegan cake day.
