It will remain legal in non-residential properties, but a new law is going through the final farcical stages of parliamentary approval that is meant to make squatting in residential property a crime. The law still needs royal assent and a timetable to come into force, and its effect is not so simple. On Friday 02/03, Londoners were invited to the opening of the 'Open Place', a "radical social centre" at 27 Acre Lane, SW4. They were promised " three films (not sure which ones yet but they'll be good) and a social evening with some grub and home made wine and beer."
On Sunday, 'Peckham squatter commented that the number didn't work, and that several people had attempted to find the centre and failed. Ian couldn't understand how that happened, as apparently "plenty" did find the place and a good night was had by all.

Occupy Birmingham will be leaving the park behind Symphony Hall today. The occupiers have had a permanent presence in Birmingham City centre since October 15th, first in Victoria Square and latterly in the park on Cambridge Street. The camp is the longest occupation in England, it might be dismantling but this does not end the activities of Occupy, far from it. This is not the beginning of the end, but is the end of the beginning phase of Occupy.
