The Battle of Nabi Saleh: Soldiers vs. Kids

05-07-2010 11:13

Israeli Soldiers vs. Kids
When Israeli soldiers entered the embattled Palestinian village of Nabi Saleh on July 2, they were immediately confronted by over a dozen small children. While the IDF is accustomed to firing teargas canisters, percussion grenades, rubber bullets and even live .22 caliber ammunition at adolescent boys, members of the Nahal unit and Kfir infantry brigade tasked with suppressing the weekly Nabi Saleh demonstration were frustrated by the children who surrounded and taunted them. At one point, the division commander became so upset he barked into his radio, “I need backup!”

Report: 26 June Demo in Solidarity with Victims of Extraordinary Rendition

29-06-2010 11:47

On a hot Saturday afternoon at the end of June, as the British media and government sought to use British troops as a weapon on the home front to defend their senseless warmongering in faraway lands on Armed Forces Day, the London Guantánamo Campaign took a stand against the indefensible and marked a far more poignant anniversary with a demonstration in solidarity with victims of extraordinary rendition outside the US Embassy in Mayfair on UN International Day in Support of Victims of Torture.

Tomorrow (Sun(y)day sees a day of celebration of nonviolent heroes, picnicing a

26-06-2010 23:11

Following today's successful nonviolent flotilla of cycles that took Alverhurst the March of the Penguins, famous penguin (who, incidentally now refuses to March to any war zone) to Marchwood Military Port today (the UK's biggest fleet).

On armed forces day (wrongly named 'forces') it was important to ensure that there was an nonviolent and unarmed presence and a subverting situation of the warring spectacle.

The Society of the Spectacle plays up war and makes heroes our of killers, and half felt soldiers who go - some not knowing why they go to war. Our arrival made the things change round - suddenly we were at first seen as a threat and then we subverted it by friendliness and we were even kind to the soldiers, police and MOD staff that turned up/talked to us. The level of fear was high - we made fun and play out of the situation not fear and fierceness. Methinks play achieves more than protest and seriousness ever can.

Americans Prosecuted as Terrorists

26-06-2010 20:19

Ramallah-Online
Americans in Gaza Freedom Flotilla Prosecuted as Terrorists ......... AMERICA is still embarrassed by the infamous McCarthy Hearings which ruined the lives of thousands of innocents during the Fifties. Anyone then, suspected of being linked to communism was arrested, interrogated and either imprisoned or forced to give names of others suspected of communist tendencies. And so the fear and intimidation spread like a great plague across the USA. Names were blacklisted, careers and lives ruined as the authorities ruthlessly traded on peoples’ fears, paranoia and weaknesses.
