27-08-2007 11:18Robert Fisk, in his article 'Even I question the 'truth' about 9/11' seems to be denigrating, by association, the many science and engineering professors, airline pilots, ex-air traffic controllers, ex-military personnel and other intelligent people who have been questioning the official story of 9/11 ever since they first noticed far more of the many discrepancies than he points out.

25-08-2007 22:22Tommorows New York Times is blaming the Taliban for the increase in Afghan heroin on our streets. Which is odd since the Taliban virtually elimanated it there when they were in government, for the first time since 'the Opium Wars'.
25-08-2007 13:35With the possible exception of John Pilger, no world renowned journalist can take as much credit for consistently and credibly opposing US imperialist war-mongering as Robert Fisk. Today in the Independent he talks of his doubts about the official 911 story.
"Caesar pacified Gaul by mass slaughter; he then used his successful army to crush all political opposition at home and establish himself as permanent ruler of ancient Rome. This brilliant action not only ended the personal threat to Caesar, but ended the civil chaos that was threatening anarchy in ancient Rome – thus marking the start of the ancient Roman Empire that gave peace and prosperity to the known world.
If President Bush copied Julius Caesar by ordering his army to empty Iraq of Arabs and repopulate the country with Americans, he would achieve immediate results: popularity with his military; enrichment of America by converting an Arabian Iraq into an American Iraq (therefore turning it from a liability to an asset); and boost American prestige while terrifying American enemies.
He could then follow Caesar's example and use his newfound popularity with the military to wield military power to become the first permanent president of America, and end the civil chaos caused by the continually squabbling Congress and the out-of-control Supreme Court.
President Bush can fail in his duty to himself, his country, and his God, by becoming “ex-president” Bush or he can become “President-for-Life” Bush: the conqueror of Iraq, who brings sense to the Congress and sanity to the Supreme Court. Then who would be able to stop Bush from emulating Augustus Caesar and becoming ruler of the world? For only an America united under one ruler has the power to save humanity from the threat of a new Dark Age wrought by terrorists armed with nuclear weapons."
24-08-2007 20:30On Wednesday, President Bush delivered what the White House billed as a “major foreign policy speech” to the national convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, meeting in Kansas City, Missouri.
24-08-2007 20:26Preaching accountability to the CIA is like preaching fairness to Wall Street or honesty to the White House. It’s not merely futile, it’s counterproductive. The effort itself reinforces illusions in institutions that by their very nature are committed to double-dealing, fraud and lies.
24-08-2007 19:28Come November, 2008, Democrats will, not unlike pre-programmed Stepford wives, line up behind Hillary Clinton. Democrats have no other choice, as most of them are disgusted with two terms of Bush, that is to say the neocons. Of course, Hillary is not much different, maybe in minor style but hardly in substance, and a vote for Hillary—call it the Clinton dynasty, following on the heels of the Bush dynasty—will be a vote for more mass murder and incalculable misery.

23-08-2007 12:31An American peace delegation which visited Iran recently has described a striking friendly encounter with some three hundred members of the Revolutionary Guards. In a statement, the head of the delegation has strongly debunked the US administration's decision to label these soldiers as terrorist and has called on Americans to oppose a new war of aggression.

22-08-2007 22:44Politicians across the world are more open in their condemnation of Guantanamo Bay these days and a old friends of America have even said it should be closed down.
Criticism and calls for closure are being made quite openly by British government ministers now that Tony Blair's influence has gone.
But they are more reluctant to acknowledge the existence of another Guantanamo - one in their own backyard ... it is called HMP Long Lartin in England's leafy county of Wiltshire.

“I don't know,” said Alice. “I lost count.” [Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking Glass, Chapter IX, Queen Alice]
21-08-2007 21:03"The statesmen will invent cheap lies, putting blame upon the nation that is attacked, and every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them, and refuse to examine any refutations of them; and thus he will by and by convince himself that the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process of grotesque self-deception. - "Chronicle of Young Satan" Mark Twain"
20-08-2007 22:51On 10 August 2007, the United Nations Security Council has voted to give the UN an “extended role” in U.S.-British occupied Iraq after more than four years in which the UN was ignored and considered irrelevant by the U.S. and its few willing allies. The new UN Resolution, sponsored (as usual) by the U.S. and Britain, is a propaganda designed to manipulate the public and legitimise ongoing U.S.-British terror in Iraq.
