Demetre Fraser a 21 year old black man is from Peckham south east London and represents the second highly suspicious death in the custody and care of West Midlands Police force following on from the controversial death of Kingsley Burrell. The recent deaths in police custody of Smiley Culture aka David Emmanuel, Kingsley Burrell and now Demetre will inflame police community tensions, already stretched to breaking point.

On October 2010 there was a fight in the center of Nizhniy Novgorod, in the result of it a nationalist Redkin D. was knifed in his arm. The wound was not serious and he didn't apply to police. But this accident became known to the Anti-extremist Center at General Directorate of Internal Affairs in Nizhniy Novgorod region detectives who earlier had used Redkin to inititate extremist proceedings.On March 2011 he was taken to center “E” where he was “pressed” (i.e. he was tortured and threatened – SM ) and made to sign a statement with offenders' surnames written in it.
“I was made to sign a statement. When I told that I don't know who was it, the center “E” detectives told me who to blame. Though I knew those people who were offered to me as the offenders and I knew that it weren't they, I was forced by “E” detectives to declare exactly those people who weren't fault in the fact”, tells D. Redkin – the victim-nationalist.

An Opportunity Presents Itself
Earlier that evening, Palestinian rights campaigners sitting in a coffee shop near the LSE, spotted Benny Morris walking down Kingsway, a major street near Holborn Tube Station. This was too good an opportunity to miss; in a flash, campaigners gathered around him and took turns to put questions directly to Morris about his writings and statements on the necessity of ethnic cleansing, his call for the caging of Palestinians, and the racist overtones of his descriptions of Arabs. Morris ignored the questions and instead marched on. If he was hoping to get away with that he was mistaken. Campaigners simply followed him and continued to put questions to him loudly and asked for him to reply. This carried on for about 200 yards and created a spectacle for the public. Morris then bolted into the LSE building along with his rather confused and bewildered minders. Morris had muttered ‘right’ a couple of times and that was the sum total of his engagement; his demeanour throughout had been more like a criminal trying to hide from the spotlight rather than an academic confident of his ground and willing to take up the invite of open debate.

In Franz Kafka’s short story “Before the Law” http://records.viu.ca/~johnstoi/kafka/beforethelaw.htm a tireless supplicant spends his life praying for admittance into the courts of justice. He sits outside the law court for days, months and years. He makes many attempts to be admitted. He sacrifices everything he owns to sway or bribe the stern doorkeeper. He ages, grows feeble and finally childish. He is told as he nears death that the entrance was constructed solely for him and it will now be closed.
