US Election Campaign: National Security and Permanent Wars. Vying to Be Toughest

09-09-2008 13:47

Ignoring public sentiment, both party nominees stress "national security" and face off on who's toughest on "terrorism." For 2009, expect more of the same. A continued right wing agenda. Bigger budgets for militarism. Police state repression for enforcement. Little attention to public needs. No end to wars and occupation. Possible new ones against Iran, Pakistan, elsewhere in Eurasia, and a resurgent confrontation with Russia.

BPP running scared in Leeds!

06-09-2008 16:48

Kevin Watmough - Supposed BPP Leader
The so-called ‘British Peoples Party’ are already running scared of opposition to their plans to hold an anti Hip Hop demo in Leeds. The BPP advertised their demo outside HMV on Lands Lane in Leeds city centre for 2.30pm on Saturday October 4th. But after a counter-demo was announced on Indymedia (see  https://publish.indymedia.org.uk/en/2008/09/408225.html?c=on#c203290) they suddenly changed it to October 18th. They even had the cheek to suggest it was the antifascists who couldn’t get the date right! The BPP have changed the date in order to arrange police protection for themselves and because the 18th is the date of their Leeds‘congress’. Clearly the BPP think they’ll need extra numbers in addition to the protection of the cops. All antifascists should mobilise for this event.
