EDL/WDL in Wrexham - report and photos

In response to the news that the English/Welsh Defence League were planning a demo in Wrexham on Saturday 21 November to protest against plans for a new mosque in the town, a coalition of local groups and political parties decided to hold an event to 'celebrate diversity' rather than meet the E/WDL in direct confrontation.

Local Playwright and Human Rights Campaigner told to leave UK

Lydia Besong and her husband Bernard Batey fled Cameroon and came to the UK seeking asylum on 17 December 2006. On 29 October 2009 the couple returned to their home in Rochdale to find a letter from the Border and Immigration Agency informing them that they must return to Cameroon, where Lydia she is still wanted by the authorities since escaping prison.

On 11th November, due to the demonstration of Polish neonazi organizations (including ONR -Oboz Narodowo-Radykalny), the anarchists and antifascists organized a series of actions which were supposed to show their determined and straightforward objection against fascism. The actions were a part of the European days against fascism, which were announced by the antifascist conference organized by Siempre Antifascista.

Urgent Action: stop deportation of mother and baby

Last week a passenger protest saved Rose-Jane and baby Natale from deportation, when some passengers on the Nairobi-bound flight refused to fasten their safety belts after receiving leaflets at Heathrow. But now the Home Office is trying again. Another deportation attempt is set for Wednesday 18th November. Please help.

More Terror Raids in Manchester

At around 4 o’clock this morning the police arrested five men under the Terrorism Act 2000. Four of them were detained in Greater Manchester by the North West Counter Terrorism Unit, while the other was arrested near Heathrow Airport. According to police there is “no direct threat against Greater Manchester”.
