Human Rights Crime in Gaza

07-05-2008 20:21

As these articles prove, the world knows precisely what is going on in Gaza.

By any name you call it, Gaza is a territory under Israeli siege, Collective Punishment which is causing incredible hardship, and death, for Gazan Palestinians.

Every country in the world should immediately, stop any and all aid to Israel until this siege stops.

As Jewish groups increasingly speak out against Israel and Zionist Extremism, the pressure to reverse the pressure applied by the 'Israel Lobby', which falsely claims to speak for the greater Jewish community, increases, as does the possibility of international action on Israeli Apartheid.

Notts Stop the BNP objection to BNP licence application

06-05-2008 17:48

The BNP are planning on holding this year's Red White and Blue festival on land owned by party member Alan Warner in Denby, Derbyshire as they did last year. They have sought a premises licence from Amber Valley Borough Council for the sale of alcohol and the playing of music. The public consultation on this licence ended today.

Several concerned organisations, including Nottinghamshire Stop the BNP, lodged objections to this application, making a point of keeping to the limited terms imposed by licensing legislation. These objections, however, have been rejected, ostensibly because the organisations are not located within the affected area. Even where groups have been able to point to members living within the Amber Valley area, there objections have been rejected on the same basis. Notts Stop the BNP are currently investigating the possibility of appealing the council's decision. In the meantime, the objection they made is being placed in the public domain so that people can make their own judgements about the case it makes.

Regardless of the outcome of any appeals, the licence application will have to be considered by the council. Although the date of this meeting is currently unknown, the Stop the Red White and Blue campaign are already mobilising for a picket and encouraging those opposed to the BNP to join us.

Big Game, Small Fry, Zimbabwean elephants and suing IMC Antwerp.

03-05-2008 22:01

not exactly John from the telly series "Lost" but wants to mean biz all the same
At first the writ served on behalf of Flemish businessman Geert Vroman & his company SPRL/BVBA Vroman seems to be yet another example of hyperbole and pique. A local businessman accuses a non-heirarchial volunteer collective engaged in progressive media and open publishing of invasion of privacy and demands damage compensation at 10,000 euro (7,820stg) for every hour an article has been on the newswire by serving a writ on a member of the team, Emmanuel Paulus. The article in question is merely a translation from English material available elsewhere on the internet supporting a petition against big game hunting which Vroman was revealed to organise thanks to a Flemish TV and Radio corporation program broadcast on March 9th, 2008. You don't need to be familiar with the European sector peers of the English "Carter Rucks" firm to spot the spoor of a big bully. But tracking the background might lead you to suspect an additional agenda of "West Vlandaaren" extreme nationalism in silencing an indymedia collective whose coverage of Vorman's Big game parties in Zimbabwe (complete with bagged elephants apparently) fell short of details published in the commercial Flemish press.

Bush/Cheney-Israeli Disinformation Campaign about Iran Directed Against the Unit

03-05-2008 16:50

The Bush administration and Israeli government appear to be operating a joint disinformation campaign, whose objective is to establish a media based alternative reality from which to accuse Syria/Iran of developing nuclear weapons with help from North Korea, by using a real event combined with planted stories establishing a defining narrative. This accusation in turn is augmented with stories about Iranian sponsored "Special Groups killing US troops in Iraq" and purported naval incidents the Persian Gulf, creating self-reinforcing, media based crisis.

BNP take council seats in Amber Valley

02-05-2008 17:10

Yesterday's local government elections do not appear to have been an overwhelming success for the British National Party (BNP), but in Amber Valley, Derbyshire they won two seats from Labour and missed another by only one vote.
