Redecorating Barclays' brand new shop front
Activists held a demonstration outside the brand new branch of Barclays Bank in Hope Street, Wrexham this morning in solidarity with Smash EDO's Target Barclays Campaign. Barclays have located their shiny new 'shop front' branch, at a cost of more than £1 million, in a pedestrianised area with some very useful railings right in front of the doorway, just perfect for mounting a visual display to make the point about Barclays' links with the global arms trade.

Vestas solidarity 'Magic Roundabout' Climate Camp evicted

ahh... that's better, back to a bland corporate piece of faketure
After a court ruling on Tuesday granting a possesssion order to Hanslips (seemingly entirely at the behest of Vestas), the bailiffs arrived yesterday Friday 27th at 11:00am, demanding everything be moved from the camp by noon. This despite the Judge's ruling that the landowner negotiate a time for leaving the roundabout with the occupiers, and the roundbouters attempts to negotiate such a time being frustrated.

The 300-350 Show: Civil Society for Climate Justice

Just before the start of the historic UN climate talks open in Copenhagen, UK civil society will come together and encircle the Houses of Parliament to demand that the UK and Europe do much, much more than they have pledged so far in order to seal a fair and effective climate agreement. The Stop Climate Chaos Coalition brings together over 100 member organisations who in turn have members amassing to around 11 million people – one in six of the population. We speak to SCC director, Ashok Sinha, about what they have planned for the day and about their policy platform.

London 'Die-In' calls for Troops out of Afghanistan

Demonstrators, mainly students, stopped traffic in Parliament Square, London yesterday, Wednesday 25 November 2009, when they staged a 'die-in' on the road in front of the Houses of Parliament. They called for an end to the war in Afghanistan and for British troops to be brought home now.

NCH Front
Non Commercial House is a squatted autonomous FreeShop space on 165 Commercial Street, London. The Corporation of London (The city of london council that owns the building, booooh) want us out, so they took us to court and won. Of course, they haven't got any plan with the building and will probably let it rot for another couple of years... But we resisted the first eviction and we are still here and we are planning to make the best use of the space until the last hour we have it!!

Legal Threat to the Vestas Campaign 'Magic Roundabout' Camp:

The Roundabout at Night, a few months ago...
The people remaining on the ‘Magic Roundabout’ protest camp down on the Isle of Wight outside the now closed Vestas factory have been officially handed their eviction order by the land owner (Hanslips?), and the court hearing is today Tuesday 24 November.

Osian Jones, a full-time organiser with the radical pressure group Cymdeithas yr Iaith (Welsh Language Society), will return to court on Friday (25 Nov. 09) to answer a summons to imprison him for a month as the result of his campaigning work.

Representatives from London and Brighton solidarity groups picketed the Maison
Languedoc-Rousillon office in London today in protest at the LR department's plans
to build facilities for Carmel Agrexco in Sete harbour. We handed in the attached letter to the office director.
