Banner hang and vigil in Shrewsbury for Gaza

A large banner - "Enough death. Stop this bloody war" - recycled from other conflicts, was hung over a main road in Shrewsbury town centre today for several hours. Meanwhile, in the Square, around 60 people gathered in the freezing fog for a vigil to draw attention to the disaster that is being inflicted by Israel on Gaza.

Indiscriminate police brutality at Anti-Israel Protests

A demonstration that began non-violantly and in high spirits became the scene of chaos and violence as police unleashed indiscriminate violence and brutality against demonstrators in what appears to be a coordinated attack in a tunnel away from public view. Unknown numbers of protestors arrested and numerous injuries including one case requiring hostpital treatment.

Portsmouth Free Palestine Demonstration

On 3rd of January 2009 about 300 protesters showed up at Guildhall Square in Portsmouth to voice their anger at the Israeli bombing and siege of the Gaza Strip. A raliegh was held with several speakers, two of them Palestinians, followed by a march through the city center to a Tesco's store where leaflets were distributed to shoppers.

Report of emergency picket of Newcastle M&S in Solidarity with Palestine, 02.01

On 2nd January around 30-40 protestors turned out for a noisy picket of the Newcastle branch of Marks and Spencer, calling for a boycott of M&S over their support for Israel, the boycott of all Israeli goods and an end to all British support for Israel. The picket was called by Fight Racism Fight Imperialism/Revolutionary Communist Group.

It happened at 9am this morning. We were speaking to Sabrine Naim at the time, standing and talking in the Naim family home which had been wrecked this morning. Chunks of debris – one a meter long and a foot wide - glass, and sharp slices of their own broken roof, had smashed onto beds, chairs, their kitchen and living room. Only two of their family of 12 had been home at the time. They were expecting an attack. And it came at 4am – a missile strike by an F16 on the local police station and Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine offices. Smouldering rubble and rocks and dust were strewn across the heart of Beit Hanoon – the market, taxi rank and main streat littered with debris.
