The English Defence League headed over to Aarhus, Denmark on Saturday in an attempt to kick start a supposedly continent-wide anti-Jihadist movement.

In reality less than 200 members of various European Defence Leagues actually bothered to turn up (with 50 countries in Europe this averages out at an impressive 4 members per country). The far right was greatly outnumbered by an anti-fascist counter-demo – with about 4,000 people coming out to oppose them.

Remembering Henry Richard of Tregaron: 3 Apr 1812 - 20 Aug 1888

A commemoration event at Abney Park Cemetery marked the 200th anniversary of the birth of Welsh peace-maker Henry Richard. Bruce Kent, who had re-discovered Henry Richard's grave in the overgrown Stoke Newington graveyard in north London was Master of Ceremonies. About 100 were in attendance, a big increase on a similar event some years ago. Many of those present came from Wales, some from Richard's birthplace, Tregaron in Dyfed.

Bristol Responds to Anti-Squatting Bill

In response to the Government's moves to criminal squatting in residential properties people gathered in Bristol on Friday to protest against the passing of the Legal Aid Bill. Around 30 to 40 protesters meet outside Metropolis on Stokes Croft (another empty property, which if the Government has it's ways, would be left to rot in the interests of property speculators). Comrades from The Red & Black Umbrella in Cardiff even came over to Bristol to join the protest!

At 2:30PM people set off down the street, taking the road and displaying a banner which read: "Whatever They Say, Squatting Will Stay!"

What most people do not know, or are not aware of, is that the people who arrive in UK fleeing the war in Afghanistan are routinely detained, denied protection and sent back to Afghanistan, on regular charter flights London - Kabul: there is a deportation charter flight to Afghanistan about every two weeks– charters to Afghanistan are the most regular of the mass deportation flights from the UK.
