Hunger Strike @ Yarlswood - Reprisals and demo

This morning students and campaigners commenced a solidarity hunger strike at theLondon Offices of Serco. Protesters will entertain a constant presencefor2 days between 8am and 8pmto draw attention to the violent response of the centre staff and UK Border Agency (UKBA) to the peaceful hunger strike at Yarl’s Wood Immigration Removal Centre, Bedford as a build-up to a London-wide protest held at the same location on Friday at 2:30pm.

On Monday (1st February) I am due to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court in London for refusing to pay a fine of £50 and £465 in costs resulting from a peaceful symbolic sit-down protest in July 2007 outside the Atomic Weapons Establishment at Aldermaston, Berkshire - Britain's nuclear warhead manufacturing and research facility - during the Footprints for Peace International Walk towards a Nuclear-Free Future from Dublin to London.

Mainshill Solidarity Camp evicted – not an end, but a beginning

Yesterday was the fifth and final day of the eviction of the Mainshill Solidarity Camp – the last two arrests as the final occupiers were dragged out of the rapidly shrinking Wood. A total of 45 arrests were made over the course of the eviction with close to 70 people taking part and supporting the camp.

Selina Adda did not fly yesterday

Selina and her children were collected from Yarl's Wood IRC at approximate 8 a.m. yesterday morning and taken to Heathrow airport. They were shocked to find that they were not taken into the airport but round the back in the vehicle and taken to near the plane.
